I mentioned the '96 Donmar cast album but RCA Victor deleted it a few years ago. It may still be available as an import but it is no way a definitive COMPANY disc.

My OBCR CD has Larry Kert singing Being Alive as an Extra.

Yes, Sony included that as a bonus track on the latest reissue. (There were rumours that all of L. Kert's tracks would be on as bonus tracks but in the end we just got the one.)

The main problem is that COMPANY was recorded with cast and orchestra in one studio. When Kert came in to overdub Dean Jones' vocals, you can still hear Jones faintly in the background. Kert has a more melodic voice, but Jones brings more edge to the performance.

At the time of the original staging of Company, Dean Jones did not want to go on from the out of town try out. He was going through a painful divorce and the material really bothered him. He left the show as quickly as possible after the NY opening to be replaced by Larry Kert. But he was still in the show at the time of the original recording.
