Which show do you predict will get the biggest Tony boost?

SOR left me with a huge headache, I thought it was boring and too loud! We left even before intermission. I may have the minority opinion but that's my experience. Anyways, I'm sure the show will get a boost from its Tony appearance. It does seem it has found an audience with families

The Color Purple and The Humans should increase their capacity/grosses after the TONY awards. Waitress is already doing very well currently but I think they will see a bump in advanced sales. The Hamilton scalpers will likely see the biggest boost.

Percentage wise, not in absolute numbers, I think BRIGHT STAR will get the biggest boost.

As to SCHOOL OF ROCK, I found it thoroughly delightful. Nothing to complain about--except when you're rush-seated waaaay to the side in the mezz, definitely partial view. When Brightman's character was asked to write his name on the board, I heard laughter but since I couldn't see the board, had no idea what prompted the laughs. (I later learned why.)

I have worked a lot of shows in my over 20 years of ushering and this is probably the biggest, consistently crowd pleasing one I've ever done.

We are doing "You're in the Band." Of course we want to sell more tickets, but we aren't really in danger of going anyplace anytime soon.

There are too many people out there who know good entertainment when they see it.

"

I had a fantastic time at the show and felt like I saw a Broadway musical/rock concert hybrid. I don't know why people on this thread are so down on this show...it was a blast. And in a non-Hamilton year Alex Brightman would win (should this year regardless but I know that'll never happen)

PThespian, we already know you are an usher in SOR and you love the show. Do you need to respond to the posts of people who didn't like SOR and defend it?! It is really nauseating. Peace!

I forgot about Danny...you are correct. But Alex still gives a top notch performance.

I daresay I defend it in proportion to the amount of times that you let people know you found it too loud and boring and left at intermission (a first).

I plan on continuing to defending it so I suggest you invest in a roll of Tums or ignore me. "

Correction: Even before intermission!!! I have left many other shows at intermission! But SOR got the first walkout even before lol lol

Thanks for the response...BLOCK!

Funny, - in over 40 years of going to the theatre I have never had the lack of class to walk out. Ever. And to do it during the performance is really shows little appreciate for live performance.

Ah - but you said you have left many other shows at intermission. You sound like a class act.

Class act or not who cares?! I don't know you anyways I don't care about your opinion! lol

When I leave at intermission I'm not bothering anyone. SOR was the first show that I had that reaction thus causing to leave even before. And I've said I have the minority opinion on this show

School of Rock is fine. The kids are fantastically talented, and the show pretty much deflates any time the focus shifts away from them. A number showcasing them will be showing the very best aspect of the show and will probably sell tickets.

The Humans will get a nice boost, as it will surely pick up the plurality of the Play awards- Best Play, Best Featured Actor and Actress, perhaps Set, Lighting, and Direction, as well.

Fine. I'll do it. I saw SOR earlier this week. I've never heard the cast recording and never saw the movie. I had a GREAT time. It's delightful, fun, fluffy, and while predictable, has a contagious energy that made me happy for the rest of the day.
