I will be in New York the week ending July 4th. I'd like to try a lottery for a matinee on July 3rd (Some shows have special matinees that Friday, instead of 2 shows on the 4th of July.)
I'm debating whether I should try Shrek or Hair. Their drawings are at different times, so I could possibly try both. Which one is easier to win/less crowded? Which one offeres better lotto seats?
Thanks!
Shrek is easier to get seats for, but Hair is far, FAR better.
Feb. 28 - Looped, Feb. 28 - Next to Normal, March 4 - Hair, March 11 - A Little Night Music, March 24 - Time Stands Still, April 6 - La Cage Aux Folles, April 10 - Anyone Can Whistle (City Center), April 10 - Looped, May 9 - Enron, May 15 - A Little Night Music, May 15 - A Behanding In Spokane, May 30 - A Behanding In Spokane, May 30 - A Little Night Music, June 20 - A Little Night Music, June 23 - Red, June 23 - Sondheim on Sondheim, July 13 - A Little Night Music, July 18 - The Grand Manner (Lincoln Center)
Between those two shows: I wouldn't even CONSIDER Shrek.
Hair is the way to go.
Wow. What an easy choice. HAIR.
It's a harder lotto to win, but MAN is it worth it. And if you lose, try for standing room. They're just as much $$ and they offer just as much cast interaction, but you have to stand the whole show. But, again, SOOOOOOOO worth it. Best production of the year. By far.
Should I still try the Shrek lotto first and sell those tickets if I can get tickets to Hair? Do Hair's lotto seats offer audience/cast interaction?

If you're really dead set on seeing SHREK, yes. Try their lotto and sell them somehow if you win HAIR. But pleeeeeeeease for your own sake, try and see HAIR if you can somehow get tickets.

Ohhhhhh yeah. Hahaha.
I applied for tickets to Regis and Kelly for that day, so if I get them, I would only have the opportunity to do the Hair lotto. The website says their lotto seats are the boxes. How does the cast get up there?
They're connected to the mezzanine, there is a stairwell leading up to them from the orchestra, and there are ladders connected to them from the stage. So... they get up there in many ways.
