Raphael I agree with you....so lets change the discussion now...which show will have the better SET?
Unlike Tarzan Little Mermaid has a great score. I think it will be the most successful thing Disney has done since Lion King.
I have no idea what's going to happen with Young Frankentstein.
I'm hoping Mermaid fairs better than Tarzan and Mary Poppins. And to ask a silly question on these boards. Where everyone seems to HATE Disney. Is not a fair question to ask..............
the little mermaid will have the better set....georgy tsypin is a GOD of design, robin wagner often bores me.

I for one think the Little Mermaid is gonna be huge....huge costume designs, huge sets, huge box office grosses, and an amazing score. All these "Disney haters" are getting a little old.

I can hardly wait for a bunch of reviewers A.K.A. - - cri-dicks - - to tell us which
show will be a HIT - - - everyone must wait with bated breath to see if that show will survive - - all based on the opinions of these jerks - - - they have toooo much
control over the lives of too many people. It is really a drag they all hated WICKED !
Just had to vent a tad. As far as Mermaid or Frankenstein - - good luck to them both.
Hopefully I will be able to see both shows with all the wonderful talented people
involved in them. I hope they are BOTH hits !

Why? My feelings for Disney have nothing to do with predicting whether their new show will be a hit.

Why?

Sorry Wonderful - - - I meant that the so called reviewers hated Wicked - but
that did not stop the show from being a HUGE hit and having productions all
over the world - - - and still going strong today. So much for those reviewers!
I think (and kind of hope) that Little Mermaid is the new Lion King as well! It will be quite the spectacle for sure!
Although, I am rather hesitant and scared to see Heeley's (or wheelies or whatever they are called) on stage. And yes I know about Starlight Express but I thought that was just a one time joke...
This discussion is pointless. As soon as tickets go on sale for HARRY POTTER'S PENIS...oops, I mean EQUUS it's gonna sell out within the week. I predict box office records unlike anything the Great White Way has ever seen before. YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN can charge $1,000 per ticket and it wouldn't matter.

Yeah, as long as it is not advertised that "Equus" is not a musical, it will do well.
For some reason the Young Frankenstein show doesnt interest me at all! I really dont want to go see a musical on Frankenstein! The Little Mermaid is going to be AMAZING! I am especially looking forward to watching Tituss Burgess tear it up!!!!
if equus comes here - i'm so there.

raphael06, that's how I feel about the Little Mermaid. Some people just automatically think it will end up like Tarzan, but I have a feeling that this will end up like the new Lion King, only better; it has a great cast and a great creative team, which much like Lion King, weren't well known with Broadway and suddenly created a huge hit..Little Mermaid is leagues above Tarzan and Mary Poppins and I think will end up being above all the other Disney shows on Broadway. I think it will be very interesting to see how the reviews turn out for these two shows and watch them duke it out at the Tony Awards!

CapnHok, Thats pretty sad. There already have been penis shows. Its about Harry Potter's P, and all the gay men will buy tickets. But this is about Fish and Franks. And I much prefer Fish..............

I think they both will do very well. They attract different Audiences.
Mermaid also has a great score. It's one of my favorites and Disney does well on Broadway because of the lack of competition. This story is really well known too, so that will be a big plus.
Frankenstein has a funny script and excellent cast. Even if the sets stink, which the Actors in the interview weren't willing to admit, Mel will be involved so I am sure he has his hands in everything. He has plenty of experience with this part of a production. So I expect them both to be well done.
What will really be the questions is, which has the better score? We know Mermaids, but what are they going to do with Frankenstein? It isn't your usual big head Monster show, it is a Comedy with a good story. Not just focusing on the Monster but the characters living in the Castle.
I like them both. Sorry to hear about Poppins not doing so well? I hope it makes it's way eventually to San Francisco. Tarzan, not famous for it's music. They should have put up Jungle Book instead.

I think that "The Little Mermaid" will be the bigger hit (especially with "Beauty" and "Tarzan" closing soon). I have a funny feeling that "Young Frankenstein" will be a disappointment ("The Producers" was just in the right place at the right time).

I haven't been online in a few days, so I'm just finding out about all this stuff, but Mermaid, unless Disney jacks up the prices, will be a bigger hit. I just don't think anyone in their right mind will pay that much for Frankenstein.
Except maybe those people who paid $480 for The Producers?
I think SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE will be this seasons big "artistic hit." It was HIGHLY acclaimed in London and won a bunch of Olivers.
I agree. I think Sunday... will be very critically acclaimed.
That's the one I'm REALLY excited about (and the now impossible FOLLIES revival, oh well).
I think both YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN and LITTLE MERMAID are bound to be big fat hits. Even MARY POPPINS with its lackluster reception is over 90% capacity every week.
Wait why is FOLLIES impossible now?
i hope frankenstien bombs...mel brooks is a pompous a-hole for charging that much $$. He can kiss my business goodbye.
