Just got it today and it its great! It has a wonderful 16 page booklet with color photos from the show, the backstory on how the show came about, and lyrics to the songs.
You'll love it!

Glad to hear you are enjoying the show! Wish I had the ready cash to fly out to one of the productions this year to see it again.

You must be a good dancer if you are Phil. Enjoy the show!

If anyone was wondering, Graham Rowat and Kate Baldwin will be in the show again, in Detroit. I'd direct-link, but you have to go to his (entirely Flash) website.

Ok, you cannot find a bigger fan of this show than me. HOWEVER, after listening to the CR ths evening...I am seriously dssapointed in the recording of "I Love a Piano" and "Happy Holiday".
Happy Holiday...this opening number had a lot of hand clappng and tapping and there is none of this on the CR. It's a long number in the show, and is very quick on the CR.
I Love a Piano...Jeffry and Meredth's taps are there alright, but where the hell are the girls on the stools tapping? Where are the 10 guys tapping on the stairs behnd Jeffry and Meredith? You can hear them towards the end, but the full effect of the tapping was not captured.
I can't say I'm dissapointed that they cut the little girl out of this recording...she really only had one song. And I lke Karen Morrow, but why couldn't the complete original cast be invited to record? The first inn manager is not here.
Blue Skies ...this song is missing the cane tapping and finger snapping in the beginning of the song.
Now, having said all this...I STILL LOVE THIS CR and am thrilled to have it. Can anyone elaborate as to why they would have cut some of the "extras" (cane tapping, ALL tap dancers, hand clapping, etc) from the CR?

The CD is on its way to me; I just wish more of the SF cast were on it!
That's a little odd -- the lack of tapping. It makes the song!

yeah, I understand that it's Jeffrey and Meredith's number, but that number was all about the large number of people tap dancng from beginning to end. As I was listening to the CD, I was picturing the show...the girls coming onstage with the stools, the stairs rising up as the guys were tapping...and so on. However, the tapping WAS NOT THERE!
They still do the toy piano in the begnning though, which is nice. And they cut the corny jokes in the opening of the show...thank god!
Let me know what you think when you listen to it!

Does anyone know if they had any student rush or lotto for the production in Boston last winter?

If anyone is interested they are performing White Christmas play at a local theater in NJ this winter season. It's a great theater so I am sure they will do a good job.

Looks like Justme2 and I will have to fight over who's the biggest fan. :) Seeing this two years ago in SF was glorious. It was perfectly crafted, and like seeing an old Technicolor movie musical brought to life, and it was perfectly 50's-period. Everyone connected with the production just seemed to "get it" -- the designers, the arrangers, the choreographers...even the actors' dialects sounded like they'd been pulled straight out of the 50's. I loved every second of it.
That being said, I'm disappointed to hear about the lack of tapping on the cd. Part of the brilliance of the production is the choreography, and it's a shame that sound isn't captured.

I am ready for the fight!! I agree with everything you said above...it was the perfect show (IMO) and it looks like I'll be trekking up to Sacto to see it this year.
There is tapping on the CD, but not all of it. I bet most people won't even notice the lack of some of the tapping (except maybe superfans like you and me), but for me it stuck out instantly.

Wow. My cd should arrive today. I'm so excited for it. Considering the number of shows that go unrecorded these days, I feel lucky with ANY recording of White Christmas.

Me too! I had mine pre-ordered as soon as the announcement was made. I was very surprised to hear it was being recorded. I guess this show turned a profit?
It's well worth it, believe me. The booklet alone was a gift, as it had photos from the production.

Where did you all order from? I pre-ordered mine from Circuit City and haven't even received word on it arriving at their warehouse.

Mine's coming from Amazon, but I had it shipped with something else that came out a week later -- so I don't have it yet.
