no, i hear you on that, i was just curious where they would go if they were though just because it's not exactly clear cut.
I think one of the AUGUST: OC ladies will get the award, the show has way too much buzz to be ignored, it's just like we knew one of the ladies from COAST OF UTOPIA will be taking the featured actress award last season.
I really liked Robin de Jesus in In the Heights, but I wonder if he really does enough to land a win - or even the nomination. You could fill the category respectably with Boyd Gaines, Daniel Breaker, Matthew Morrison, Chris Fitzgerald and Harvey Fierstein, all of whom have more substantial roles.
Won't Harvey Fierstein be unjustly placed in the leading category for playing a supporting role as it happened back in '03?
ray- I was confused about that too-I thought Wopat was featured and Fierstein was leading.
I think that Daniel Evans will get nominated.
And one of the ladies from August will win. (If they'd put Eve Best in featured she'd win, but not in leading.)
And I think Loretta Ables will be nominated, as will Olga from In the Heights.
Robin De Jesus, in my opinion, is In the Heights' best shot at an acting award. Olga Merediz would win any other year, but Laura Benanti will win I think and best leading actor will not go to Lin Manuel Miranda. I think it will go to Evans or possibly someone from Catered Affair. And I think Cheyenne Jackson will be nominated.
Best leading actress in a musical, I agree with whoever said-Kerry Butler, Faith Prince, Patti LuPone, Jenna Russell, Kelly O'Hara. (And I believe Russell has a great shot.)
All of the women from In the Heights are below the title, which means unless they're petitioned specially, they're all eligible for Featured Actress. It's better that way, because none of them stand a chance of being nominated in Leading Actress.
With Fierstein, the reverse is true. He's above the title, which means the producers will have to petition him for Featured Actor, otherwise he'll be considered a Leading Actor. The Catered Affair producers would be wise to do this, because he stands a much better chance of being nominated there.

Harvey is in the self-proclaimed supporting role of the Uncle. Wopat and Prince are the leads, but Harv used his clout to get above the title.
They may want to move Harvey into Featured so he's not competing with Tom Wopat in the Leading category.
There's no room for him in Leading Actor anyway. Daniel Evans, Paulo Szot, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Stew, and Wopat will be the nominees there. If one of them gets left out (and the only one I could forsee that happening to is Stew) Cheyenne Jackson will get nominated.

For Play, would Anika Noni Rose be considered leading or featured?
*double post*
She's above the title and it'd be absurd not to considered Maggie, the Cat a lead role, so I hope they keep her as leading but you never know with Tony politics.
I'd love for David Pittu to be nominated for his role in IS HE DEAD?, but I doubt it will happen.
I see a couple of people left Kerry Butler out of their noms list.
I dont think there is any way that she gets overlooked this time around !!
