Who else is going to LA CAGE AUX FOLLES final performance on Sunday?

Hey guys,

I know sevral of us have stated in various other threads over the last 3 weeks that you'll be going to the FINAL performance of LA CAGE on Sunday. I thought we could all sign in here and possibly meet during intermission if you were interested.

It will be a sad day, but I expect us all to make the most of it...it will be the day of the Gay Pride parade in NYC, so I expect all of those not dancing down 5th Ave. to be swarming the Marquee.

I hoping to hear many a long applause after the numbers, character entrances, especially GARY & LES CAGELLES! Wouldnt a standing ovation as soon as he finishes I AM WHAT I AM be a wonderful gift as he walks up the aisle one last time? The folks on stage w/LA CAGE have given us joy and happiness for the better part of 8 months...lets give them the love and respect they so indeed deserve in return.

Where would everyone like to meet?

Well, Fan2 .. not to burst your bubble, but all the things that you mention already happen nightly (and matinees too). A standing ovation at the end of "I Am What I Am" is quite a common occurrence. As is applauding the lead actors upon their entrances. Also, the show has only been running a little more than seven months, and that includes a month of previews. Well maybe they played for an extra month at the "Marquee" before moving to the "Marquis".

I know quite a few of the performers in the show. I paid my respects to them eariler this week. All are sad that the show is closing ... but for the "Cagelles" and Gary it is a very demanding eight show a week schedule, and everyone is looking forward to some well deserved time off.

And so is my best friend. Actually, she's taking me. But I plan to wear my La Cage shirt.

I'll probably talk to my friend first, but if we get the okay from her mom, where do you want to meet?

Previews began NOV. 12 and I can count Nov if I want!

Anyway, thats not what this thread is about and I am sorry for the not spelling Marquis the right way. Yes, I know a lot of that stuff happens already, but closing performances are when longer and louder applause tend to occur as well as standing ovations throughout...nothing will probably ever beat the final performance of Bernadette Peters GYPSY (anyone that was there knows the magic that happened that day) - BUT...I'm just trying to put out the positive vibe and wish all well on a wonderfully tiring run.

I'll be there in spirit! I plan on wearing my La Cage shirt tomorrow in honor. I went to the show for my last time on the 11th, and sadly being back in Baltimore means I can't go up to Times Square every night like I had been... but I'll have the cast and crew in mind once 3pm rolls around...

I wish everyone involved in the production a successful future - and to everyone who is going, have a GREAT time! And come back and post a full report!
