I just got both of them just about a half hour ago at Barnes & Noble. The novel makes several mistakes and adds alot of stuff from the script of both the film and the musical. The photobook is AMAZING!!

1. Every Council Member isn't listed.
2. At some points where it mentions Velma or Amber, it either says "von Tussle" or "Von Tussle".
3. In the Photobook it says that the lyrics to IKWIB are to I CAN WAIT.
There are a li'l more but I don't wanna sound harsh. No offense.

I no longer buy these 'books' as I've learned with age that I never revisit them after a few readings/viewings.
I will get the DVD on Blu-Ray when it comes out at Christmas, plus the CD soundtrack in a few days, and that's where I end my HAIRSPRAY: Movie Musical purchases.

Tne photobook is more of a storybook with pictures than just pics alone. I love the size and the pics in the actual book. It also has all of the logos (Corny Collins, Mr. Pinky, Miss Teenage Hairspray, etc.) and the poster is amazing!
The novel is well written and the pics are mainly the ones we have seen before. The only picture we haven't seen is one of Tracy at the very beginning of the film with her in her bed with super-frizzy hair! lol You all should buy them!
Don't forget about the Companion guide in August (though it may be alot like The Roots)!
