Who is going to the Tony Awards?

I am! It'll be my first time and I'm super excited! Flying in for just the weekend. What should I expect? What should I wear? What's it like in person? 

Im in the 1st Mezz 1, row H!

I'll be there; orchestra section. Also my first Tony's. I'm planning to wear a tux (and maybe some yellow shoes).

It is a fun night. I went in 2006. Almost died when Julie Andrews came out to present Best Musical. Enjoy! Stargazing in the lobby on the way out is fun. We actually walked out right behind Harris and Burtka.

I'm going! I'm so excited!

I have a question...how early should us "common people" arrive? I've never attended the Tony Awards and am curious as to how hectic it is trying to get it and how long it takes.

I've attended in the past.  Consult the instructions you were given with your ticket.  If you're not in the venue by the time indicated, you will not be let in.

^  Exactly.  And leave extra time to get there.  The traffic tie-ups are epic.  

 

I'll be there.  I'm lucky to be invited by CBS each year, and I am thrilled each and every time.

Thanks.  I wasn't sure of how crazy traffic will be and am trying to plan my trip from NJ.  

Another question...how long does it normally take to exit through the crowd once the event is over?

Also - you will be lined up before the show so plan to spend some time standing on line on 51st Street. Unless you are walking the red carpet with the big guns. The hour before the telecast was the most fun -

I will be going. 1st Mezzanine row L!!!! I went before so if anyone has questions feel free to message me. Also to guy who got orchestra seats, how did you manage to do so? Those are usually reserved for producers, actors, directors,etc.

Hugh, I am a broadway investor. I happened to invest enough into a few shows this season to get co-producer credit and access to purchase orchestra seats. And as you may already know, they cost an arm and two legs. :)

Going to the dress rehearsal in the morning. Obviously not the same thing but still can be really fun like seeing that amazing opening number live two years ago. And last year we got to see an entire number that was actually never in the telecast and was replaced by a surprise performer at the real show. One year I would like to be lucky to do both.
