Who's Afraid of Virigina Woolf potential theatres

That is one of my options for a summer reading thing for school. Is it worth to read? I would've liked to just see the show and not read the book, but the show isn't opening till next year. Geez, I hate summer reading.

It's a tough read in places since the book i bought of it is like 240 pages and its a 3 act play but it flows well if you ahve a good imagination.

i am not happy about turner either. and by the way, millie, WHOS AFRAID is one of my favorite plays, and is widely-considered one of the greatest American plays of all time.

Hey albee is a genius. What he does with disturbed stuff to begin with and turns them into theatre classics... wow!

i justed finished "long day's journey into night", loved it- made me cry (shhhhh)

i've decided to start purchasing all of the classic american plays i like (which, coincidentally, have been just about every classic american play ive read) so far i have "our town", "a streetcar named desire", "the glass menagerie", "cat on a hot tin roof", "angels in america" (1 & 2), "the crucible", "death of a salesman", and "long days journey into night". im looking for "virginia woolf" and probably "the iceman cometh", if i love it as much as "long days journey". so am i missing any- classic american plays, i mean-?

its always hard to find comtemporary plays where i live, otherwise i would've read them both by now.

I've heard of Zoo Story before. What's it about.

WOW. i just died. you have just named almost all of my favorite plays.
--Long Day's Journey Into Night is a materpiece.
my favorite dysfunctioncal family ever. Aghh, the Tyrones.
I love thee, but...not.

--Our Town is classic, thought-provoking, inspiring,
and heart-warming in a chilling way.

--Streetcar, I actually don't quite connect with at times. Harumph.

--Glass Menagerie is an amazing piece of theatre. I would like to know what makes you think this play is overrated? i highly admire this piece for it's excellent subtle imagery/meaning/symbolism.

--The Crucible is an amazing one as well. (I just saw Arthur Miller in Manhattan today on his bike, actually.) What a great show! .....speechless, anyone?

--Iceman is a hard read, but when seen, is startlingly soothing. really a hard-hitting piece. but again, hard to just...read.

--Death of a Salesman is a classic, changing show. hm...nothing else to say...just...:)

Q, thats a nice, simple description. But i will add a little :)
basically, Peter meets Jerry on his weekly bench-sit where he reads. Jerry interrupts and starts up a conversation that leads to a beautifully parallel story about his recent trip to the zoo, along with his philosophy on life. then he asks Peter for the bench.
