nuggetmonkey, you forgot "angels", haha. i'd say that's a classic, it is in my eyes. o, and "cat on a hot tin roof", its my favorite by williams.

hey! i think they did a production of "zoo story" at fordham university last year, one of the students was telling about it when i visited.

--Angels IS a classic. and a daring, beautiful one at that.

thanks qfan, ive added them to my list of neccessary reading.

this is a little o.t. but its interesting; the first time i read "cat on a hot tin roof", i got this feeling in the pit of my stomach when brick and big daddy had their big scene, every word started to hit me, like a blow to the heart (corny sounding, i know, but its honest). i was seriously aching, especially when brick started talking about skipper. thats a feeling no other play has ever realling produced for me.

wow, i guess this is a moment when i think: "I love theatre, because it is strips us down to our primal, emoting selves. Not our McDonald's scarfing, Protein shake-making 'selves', because they don;t really exist. "

i think the theme is universal, and there were some personal things in my life that could have also resonated with the play

williams has an otherworldly ability to achieve complete emotional nakadness, or at least to make a reader/audience connect to a characters struggle in a way that is so effective it... well... gives us a stomach pain!

I disagree about Turner. She was a fabulous Maggie the Cat, brought a humor and humanity to the role that was unique. The Graduate - yes, she was stiff, but so was every person on that stage. That was a directorial problem. Rent The War of the Roses and see if you still believe she won't be a brilliant Martha. I for one can't wait!

yeahhh.... Margo, I have never understood THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH. in fact, i read up to half-way through Act Two and called it quits. (at least for now). help me, i love Wilder. and i would love to love a play, but i just don't understand his weeeirddnessss.
