I am going to see Tracie Thoms tonite!!
I've never been to Feinstein's. What should I expect?
Is photography allowed? Do you get to meet the star(s) afterwards?
What else is there to know beforehand?
Thanks.

Pictures during the show? Um....no. You may get to meet the performer afterwards if he/she chooses to. Best to arrive earlier for closer seating if the event is sold out. Oh, and take lots of cash; it ain't cheap.

yes it is VERY expensive there! they do take credit. also in my experience the service/food is well not worth it, so be prepared to execute patience when your check is messed up. the room is very nice, no photogrpahy allowed, but it is a rectangle. unless you paid for the "premium" seats you will be on the outskirts of the room. it is intimate but you will have a profile view for certain. if you can bump your seat up i would do it. seating (for whatever type you have) is done first come basis,, so the earlier the better your chance. also (in theory) they will not take your order during the show, so you should allow enough time to order before the show begins.
I don't like Feinsteins. Give me Joe's Pub anyday. Nealb will show up any minute and say how wonderful the place is and chastise me for my always chiming in how much I dislike it when given the opportunity.
Arrive early. People who were in front of me in line and bought their tickets at the door and had better seats than me and I paid for "premium seats."
The management will not address any concerns you have with any problems.
Although intimate, the place has some rotten sightlines, especially if you're stuck in the back behind a beam.
Prices are obscene and the drinks and food are nothing special. I've had a better caesar salad at a diner.
I've never seen a performer mingle, especially if you are the early show and you are getting herded out. You might get a hug or a handshake on their way to the stage though.
Enjoy your night. I hope you have a better experience than me.
It's insanely expensive and I agree definitely not worth it (food/drinks) for what it is. Otherwise, it's a nice somewhat intimate kind of place and it's nice to sit down with a glass of wine and watch the person perform right there in front of you. I went to see Jane Krakowski's show last year and had a fantastic experience watching her perform. Definitely get there to allow enough time to eat/drink before the show starts.
The prices are obscene...something like $15 for a gin and tonic. And it's nowhere near as nice a space as the Carlyle or Joe's Pub, in my opinion. But if you go in knowing that you're about to spend a ton of money for not great food and bad sightlines, then you'll be fine.
Thanks, Bettyboy72. Ha, ha...
Next time I'm in NYC and go to Feinstein's, we'll have to go.
Of all the shows that I've seen at Feinstein's throughout the years, Linda Eder did mingle with the patrons on New Year's Eve 2007. She took a break around 11:15pm, and came back to the stage for the countdown and continued singing until 12:30pm or so.

Actually neal, thats a great idea! You are the one person I would go with. You get better service than me and Im sure I'd have a better time with you! :)
That sounds like fun. I'm sure we could have a fun evening and discuss theatre and the like.
It was posted on Playbill about a month ago that Elaine Paige is coming to Feinstein's this Fall. I'll definately come out and see her.
I like Feinstein's. I saw Natalie Toro there last summer and had a great time. The smaller the party/table, the better chance you have of being close. There's two two-people tables on either side of the stage where I sat which while you don't have the performer staring at you the whole time, would be better than sitting in the back behind a column.
I don't remember them being so so strict about the $40 per person (or whatever the minimum is) but you do have to get close to it. I agree the drinks are way overpriced (I think even a soda is around the likes of $7 or $
, but they had good desserts!
Toro closed her show, then everyone paid and she was waiting on the way out if you wanted to buy her CD, get a picture / etc. Brandi Burkhardt also performed there, and I forget who her pianist was but I was pretty sure she said he was a performer as well, although neither stayed around.
Have fun! I had a great time, regardless of what the others say!
