The Making of The Pirate Queen airs in the New York City area tonight on WLIW/Channel 21!
Also...
"Producers Moya Doherty and John McColgan and cast leads Stephanie J. Block (Grace O'Malley) and Hadley Fraser (Tiernan) will be live in the WLIW21 (Channel 21) studio during the premiere broadcast to share their personal stories of working on the production, and they will have a special ticket offer for WLIW21 members."
I have my DVR ready to go as I've been anticiapting this documentary for some time now.

I hope this will be shown on some other PBS affiliates, or offered on DVD eventually.
The word is there's lots of nice performance footage from Chicago in this documentary, including segments of "Woman That I Was" and other bits that have been cut.
Let's hear it for Stephanie Block and Hadley Fraser for spending their day off hanging out at a TV studio to help promote Pirate Queen. I imagine they could use a little rest after a full weekend of shows.

So messed up that it's only on in NYC. Why did I ever go to school in Maryland?
Pleaseeee let this become available on some other medium. I said this before but they should definitely put it on televisions outside the theater like the vids outside of The Color Purple.

Posted: 3/12/07 at 9:26pmGabriel Byrne (SP?) is narrating--- May sound boring, but excellent actor. All in all, an interesting show.

I love the incredibly pretentious quote from Alain Boubil
Producers: We told Alain, 'we want you to make us laugh. We want you to make us cry!"
Alain: "Oh...I will make you cry."
Sorry Alain, saw the show. Not a tear.

Boring special.
Show looks odd, the music sounds melodic.

Posted: 3/12/07 at 9:42pmThe music actually isn't very good.....the lyrics are worse, but the cast is great as are the sets, costumes, dancing, special effects, etc.

Posted: 3/12/07 at 9:58pmThe electric guitar riffs that are playing throughout the tv studio part are really annoying. I've also rarely heard a cast patting themselves on the back so much. But I realize they are trying to sell tickets of course.

Posted: 3/12/07 at 10:03pmI absolutely loved the documentary. It was very well done. I'm glad people are able to see what it takes to bring a show to Broadway, the creative process, etc. It really highlighed the entire lifecycle.
