Awwww...
Welcome to showbiz, girls. You know, as a wise woman once said: "It ain't pretty".
And who had "one" for how long it would take for a Patti LuPone reference?
Congratulations, you win the pool.

I really like that Shire is someone's name.
I guess it would be too much to ask that she name her son Frodo.
Bonnie Hobbs wrote the article so maybe Hobbs is an ALIAS for Hobbit. who knows these days. it is an unsolved Mystery!!!
Oh. my. gosh.
That is awesome. I remember that show.

I have a bit of a problem with them telling the kids and the audience it's the Broadway Tour. Is there even a tour out of Les mis? Is it even an equity show?
Sorta. It's a 3-city mini tour with local kids cast in each city.

Just to clarify things a bit-- I tried out for that (sucked too much to get in, though at least I got called back, and just auditioning was a lot of fun...), and they were pretty clear that it was not the National Touring Company at the audition. The press release is skewed, but they didn't put that spin on it at the auditons. Actually, they downplayed the scale of the production-- they didn't mention that most of the leads have actually been on Broadway.

Yeah, I tried out as well. It's REALLY funny to me that you guys keep talking about this. I know Alex and Shire, and they're both actually very talented, and not at all stupid. They know they're not touring.
What if you woke up one morning and suddenly realized you were touring.
Wouldn't that be weird?
"Ooops! I'm touring! I'd better sit down!"
Like when you fall asleep on a bus and wake up in another city? ^_^
Yeah, I saw the show yesterday, and I thought it was excellent. And in the big group numbers, I couldn't pick out the kids from the other actors until curtain call.
Why? Is everybody short?
No, actually the whole cast is pretty darn tall.... the whole production, I kept thinking, "Rob Hunt (Javert) is soooo short!" and it turns out he's six feet tall. Enjolras was flipping enormous... I was in the twenty-ninth row, and I swear he was casting a shadow on me. When he punched the air, I was worried his fist would hit the ceiling. I think Marius was six foot four, accordng to someone who knows him, and even he looked short next to Enjolras and some of the extras... especially those army officer guys.
What I meant was, they went out of their way to cast kids who looked 'mature,' and the kids weren't sticking out (like overacting, underacting, going 'look at me mom,' etc.) ^_^

Is any tour really a "Broadway" tour? The show is made up of cast memebers that have been in the Broadway company...so in a way i guess they can get away with calling it a Broadway tour.

To me, a "Broadway tour" is a national tour that has been directed and choreographed by the original Broadway team, uses the Broadway sets, costumes and lighting (or, in the case of sets, a very close replica), and has an all Equity cast.

Not only to you, really, that is what a Broadway tour is.
Not only that, towards the end of its run, TPTB renamed the "Third National Tour" of Les Miz to the "Broadway tour."
