Posted: 3/15/05 at 3:15pmThe Applegate voice on the Charity commercial is a titch wispy. And I'm being Charitable.

It most likely will be Charlotte. I doubt you will see Christina on stage in Charity, despite all the press releases which are designed to merely save face and to be as polite as possible. It is similar to what happened after they announced Jenna Elfman for the role in Nine. Lots of nice stories that she didn't have enough rehearsal time, but was still working on it and would be in the cast. Blah blah blah, pure bull. I bet the same thing is happening here.
#4re: Who will be on the 'Charity' cd?
Posted: 3/15/05 at 3:16pmI'm sure Charlotte will be on the cd. They can't have recorded it already, and they wouldn't release it with a star who isn't even in the show.

well you don't have to worry about Applegate anymore do you now Namo? The lady broke her foot. You won't have to be subjected to
her "wispy-twitch" of a voice anymore. You can get some sleep now.

Posted: 3/15/05 at 3:18pmhey marquise use some common sense. The spamalot cd was recorded before it opened on Broadway so even though Charity hasn't been recorded doesn't mean that it can't just because it is in previews
#7re: Who will be on the 'Charity' cd?
Posted: 3/15/05 at 3:19pmEven if it was recorded already, they can pull a "Brooke Shields" and drop Charlotte's vocals in.

think about it broadwaynut..with all the changes (songs being dropped, switched, re-inserted only to be dropped again) and all the problems that have been going on with this production do you think they actually had time to "get it together" and actually record it? common sense indeed...

Posted: 3/15/05 at 3:27pmChristina will be back. There is no doubt about it. She fought to get this part and the producers are not just going to say **** you you're out.

I said it was a "titch wispy" I didn't say it was a "wispy twitch." Are you on a tina binge Marquise, for Chrissake? All I could go on was what I HEARD on the commercial and it clearly wasn't even sweetened by ProTools.
Yes, I know she is a nice lady. Yes, I know every time I have mentioned her name in my real life it has been met with blank stares and eyeblinks until I specified "Kelly Bundy." So, yeah, HUGE star and nice lady.
She broke her foot, that's frickin showbiz.

I think they'll have Christina record it if she's in fact going to return to the show. This is nothing like the Jenna Elfman situation, where she didn't play the role anywhere. At least Christina had half of the out-of-town tryouts under her belt.

i can safely say it would be a nightmare if they already recorded it (songs being added/removed, ALL the female leads changing etc). My educated guess is that charlotte will record the cd initially and when and if christina returns(although i forsee her stepping into another verdon role under the helm of the weisslers, roxie hart, instead) they will make a recording with her dropped in ala brooke shields.

I really feel for Christina Applegate. How fast she recovers will be the major factor. I have the sinking feeling that Charlotte is our new Charity.
Although "sinking" may not be the right word - LOVE Charlotte! I just feel bad for Ms. Applegate.

I have a feeling that Applegate won't be back because the show will get lousy reviews and people who only wanted to see it for her will ask for refunds and it will close before Labor Day.
Say what you will about singing and dance ability, all of Ms. Applegate's reviews said she handled the dramatic and comic aspects of the show quite nicely, and she was adorable. Ms. D'Amboise is a LOUSY actress, and does not know how to project warmth and sincerity. She's a hard, cold Broadway gypsy.

Well, the pro-Applegate people are sure bitter and sounding a bit crazed. Relax, okay.
The tragic injury happens to be the best thing that could have happened to the show. They have time to salvage the damn thing. Unless we were all hoping for some memorable disaster.

Any of the people hating on Christina actually see the show?
I saw it and she was pretty damn good..the weakest part was her singing but it was still pretty damn good. *and i'm tough on singers because it's one of the few things I know*She is a VERY VERY talented actres/comedienne and dancer...i couldn't take my eyes of her most of the time.
She definetly proved to me she got the part on talent-not just name.
I hope she gets better soon and gets her chance on broadway-she deserves it.

"From all reports, the show is pretty much a disaster"
Really? I read several reports that never hinted at "disaster" including my own. This is the first time I've seen Sweet Charity and actually liked the show. When a show is truly a "disaster", the reactions are for worse than anything printed or posted about this particular production of Charity.
#23re: Who will be on the 'Charity' cd?
Posted: 3/16/05 at 5:38pmI agree!! I saw her and she was amazing!! She might not have the strongest voice in the world but she held her own and is an amazing actress...Not the "Kelly Bundy" everyone knows her as!!! I know there have been some talk of her not going back at all and that would be really sad...She did great for being away from theater for so long (and yes she did do it before)...So, don't judge too much if you havent seen her yet...
