Since the years biggest shows have opened (Spamalot and DRS are in previews, though) who has the advantage to win the Tony?
I know this has been posted before but since most shows have opened, just wondering if anyones opinions have changed.

Spamalot
But it will have hot competition this year from DRS, Light in the Piazza and Spelling Bee...
Besides...this has been discussed to death.

I hope "Wicked" was a joke. It lost. Life goes on.
I haven't seen all of the good shows this season yet, but DRS is looking pretty good. Either that of Good Vibrations hahahaha
Little Women will be lucky to get a nomination...
The Frogs is more deserving anyhow...

good point...
Who is only relevant if we are referring to which producer will take away the prize.
Well, it's obvious that the four nominees will be Dirty Rotten Scoudrels, The Light in the Piazza, Spamalot and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
None of the shows have opened yet, but it their pre-Broadway runs, all the shows received at least good notices (with DRS getting the least favorable reviews, although they were still good). Both Spelling Bee and Light in the Piazza garnered raves in their respective tryouts and Spamalot got very positive notices. It will be a tough race. I think all shows are deserving in their own right, so it goes down to if they want to pick something funny, something witty, a new movie adaptation or a chamber piece. My guess is a darn close race.
I'll give my predictions once the reviews are out.
I agree the nominees will be:
Spamalot
Spelling Bee
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Light in the Piazza
and maybe Little Women
I hope: SPELLING BEE wins
I think: Spamalot will
But then again, this may just be another 'Avenue Q' year with the small budget hit (SPELLING BEE) running away with top Musical honors.

(dont kill me for the last two)
I totally agree!!!
It SO will be:
Brooklyn
Dracula
Little Women and
Wicked!!!
bjivie: What on EARTH do you mean by saying that none of the shows have opened yet, but DRS has gotten the least positive notices? That doesn't make any sense - it hasn't gotten ANY notices yet.
It's way to early to even be talking about this. None of them have opened, and only two are in previews. Very few people on this board have seen SPELLING BEE, PIAZZA, and SPAMALOT - I'm basing that on who has actually posted that they've been. There's no way to tell at this point.
I have only seen Spamalot, but it was soooo awesome, and the music was really, really good. I will be very happy if it wins Best Musical!
I hope Little Women at least gets nominated, though that is looking very unlikely now. I think it is a great show and I want to see them perform at the Tony's!
It doesn't have a chance. ALL SHOOK UP and DRACULA have more of a chance than LITTLE WOMEN.

I've seen DRS, SPELLING BEE, and SPAMALOT (not to mention LITTLE WOMEN and BROOKLYN). I'm looking forward to seeing PIAZZA in less than three weeks, but as of right now, if I had a Tony ballot, I'd vote for SPELLING BEE as Best Musical -- for me, it was the most fully satisfying, accomplished and least flawed of the musicals I've seen so far this season.
It will DEFINITELY be DRS, Spamalot, Spelling Bee, and Piazza.
But I don't think Dracula has more of a chance of being nominated than Little Women... I guess that doesn't really matter much...
As much as I love me some Spelling Bee, DRS needs to win that Tony! DRS all the way!
Scoundrels
I WANT GREAT BIG STUFF!
I'm kinda torn right now...Piazza doesn't start previews until the 17th of March just in case anyone is curious. I'm seeing DRS, Spamalot, Spelling Bee and Little Women in two weeks and hoping to catch a straight play, preferabbly Julius Caesar or maybe get to see something else...I leave the day after Piazza starts previews and I already have tix for DRS for that Friday night...A recent graduate of my college is the assc. lighting designer for DRS and Spamalot, and is in negotiations for the transfer for Spelling Bee....I've been told that Spelling Bee is the most fun of the shows out right now. I'm stoked to see it. I'd like to see the four musicals I see be nominated so I can at least make an educated guess to what I think will win; but I won't get to if Piazza is up. :-P
