Sure, Laura Osnes and Kara Lindsay look very similar, but I think they'd be awful in SIDE SHOW. Daisy and Violet have to have two distinctly different personalities, and Osnes and Lindsay both read exactly the same- soft, sweet, and meek. Either could easily play Violet, but neither has the loud brashness required of Daisy, both in terms of vocal ability and personality. The same goes for pairing Osnes with someone like Sierra Boggess.
Every single person involved with this production loved what Betsy Wolfe and Erin Davie did in the readings that took place a few years ago. I can almost guarantee you they'll be moving forward with it to La Jolla and DC, pending any hindrance caused by their availability.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
