Tina Maddigan is the girl next door. All guys love those types. They may say they want the short tight skirts and stilettos, but I'll take her big gold beaded necklace and old lady pocketbook any day!

"That last comment was not about Tina, Phantom2"

LOL! I think Phantom2 is always thinking of Tina (the girl with the golden hair, that is).

You said it perfectly, Phantom2.

I like how moxieinthecity spelled both kristin and idinas names wrong, and they are both at the top of the hot list!

Like, omigod, do you? Did you pass a note in algebra to your BFF and say that, too?

Or, like, are you not, like, a real fan unless you can spell every single name correctly? Is that part of the rule book?

Seriously, spare me your petty schoolgirl snipes.

Moxie, tell me why you think some of those performers have hot careers.

The questions are open to everyone.

Are there any whose career seems cold? Why? Anyone whose career seems cold and you think it shouldn't be and you can't understand why?

"Moxie, tell me why you think some of those performers have hot careers. "

I think Sutton Foster's career speaks for itself. 3 Tony noms in, what, four years? Little Women was a bad play, but she was often singled out in the reviews, and she rebounded quickly with Drowsy.

Dominic Cooper just has that charisma that Law had when he first came out in Indiscretions. There was something about him. Something that, when you saw him, made you want to see more. The fact that he's handsome and charming and talented doesn't hurt. Let's see if he stays with Broadway, though.

Cynthia Nixon managed to side step the whole post-SATC stereotype thing, unlike Kim Catrall who will probably from here on out be typecast. Plus, Nixon's been on Broadway off an on for years and consistently gotten great reviews.

JLY & Christian Hoff - Tony winners with great shows behind them and talent/reviews to boot.

What is it about O'Bryne's acting that makes him so in demand, queendork?

Queendork, you took the words right out of my mouth. I was going to say that the most in-demand actor NOW is Brian F. O'Byrne. He's had the most constant work of anyone I can remember. In 2006, he's in 4 shows, alone (Shining City and the 3 Coast of Utopia plays). Plus Doubt.

Because he commands a stage. He doesn't need dialogue to get an audience to look at him. He's always in character and always in the moment.

Patrick Wilson's career is hot. Just not on Broadway. Like previous people in this post have said, he doing film's now because he has a family and films pay more and aren't that much of a commitment.

Gladys, dear, you could make up your own thread for future hots. This thread doesn't have to be all things at once. :)

Hot, cold careers and why?

Or does it just look that way?

While I can see where you're going with this, it is far to difficult for even the biggest stars on Broadway to jump from show to show. You really have to look at the actor's career as a whole to see if they're "hot" or not.

I look at "hot" as in demand, and we really don't have that as much anymore on the Great White Way. It's not like the days of Martin, Hayes, Merman, Lunt, Fontanne...

But there are very few exceptions: Nixon, Byrne, Jones...but they're not just appearing on Broadway, but off-Broadway, etc...it should be more of a question of who is hot in the theatre world.

To each his own, though.

How to properly use its/it's: Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...

It's true, Off Broadway and perhaps some forays of regional theatre should be included, as when a successful Broadway show tours and a lead goes with it, for example.

Or when a show like Drowsy has its out-of-town start.

Cynthia Nixon managed to side step the whole post-SATC stereotype thing, unlike Kim Catrall who will probably from here on out be typecast.

Following the conclusion of Sex and the City, Kim Cattrall received raves for her performance as paraplegic Claire Harrison in Brian Clark's WHOSE LIFE IS IT ANYWAY? in the West End. This was an intense, dramatic play about the notions of life and death. I'd say Ms. Cattrall pretty successfully broke out of any typecasting strait-jacket to which you seem to be proclaiming she will forever be bound.
