Hang on, there appear to be some words between your lines there...
"If you liked this show, you're a moron."
Oh. That's... very nice of you, and not passive aggressive at all. Thanks. :/

First off, a lot of people DID like that show, contrary to a rather vocal minority.
And second, a show is not a god, nor is its creator a god. It's not like seeing a personally unsatisfying production of some beloved show is akin to seeing a picture of God eating poop or something. It's an artistic misstep, not an organized attack on your own personal sensibilities.

lol...
I didn't like the production because I was mildly obsessed with the original when I was a teenager, but I love the show, so I'm glad so many people have liked it in London and here, with both casts.

Because clearly, anyone who enjoyed the production is an idiot.
You're a rather Mean Macaroon.

I thought that most people liked it.
Anyway, there's no rule that you have to like a show, but if you're going to say it has no redeeming qualities then perhaps you should list some of what you felt were its shortcomings.
At least that way people could respond constructively.

Posted: 1/7/11 at 1:37pmI do think the original question was insultingly put forward. But I also think this isn't a great production. I found it unattractive visually, thought the sound was a bit thin, the pacing consistently off, etc. BUT this is a towering work of the musical theater canon. A less than great production is still cause for celebration, especially when it comes with the opportunity to see folks like Angela Lansbury, Bernadette Peters, Alexander Hanson, et. al. dive into the material. I think it could have been much, much better, but any way you cut it, there's still a lot of wonderful happening on that stage.

Posted: 1/7/11 at 3:52pmTrue, the show was not perfect by any means. But I'll agree that insinuating that people who enjoyed it are idiots is uncalled for. To each their own.

I was trying to avoid this thread. But many of us consider the show to be absolutely perfect. The production arguably isn't.

Posted: 1/7/11 at 4:34pmOkay, well that's what I really meant. I just didn't use the 'correct' word, I suppose. Not that I think ANYTHING is perfect, I know there are those who think ALNM is the end-all of musicals (and I do not say this in a condescending way).
