It's pronounced "Anna Lisa" the rest is easy, let's move on. Happy to see this thread resurrected! Youtube her if you haven't heard her. She was the final Belle in Beauty and the Beast as well as one of three cast members in Second Stage's Vanities. Her big claim to fame was that she was the red-headed side kick to Raven Symone on That's So Raven.

Tell her to get back to us when she's called Anna Vander

OK you have some good points but an unusual name can also set someone apart from the crowd, that can be an advantage. The name shouldn´t be too difficult but something exotic can help.

Maybe she should just go by Anna Lisa.

Anneliese is one of my favorite female names; it's actually growing in popularity quite a bit in America. I love the original pronunciation 'Ana-Lisa' too. I personally think she has a great stage name. Many people don't realize, she was born in the Netherlands.

I didn't know that you determine when we have to move on. I think Besty made some great points and used perfect examples - don't just throw it away. Also, I'm pretty sure you are just focusing on the first part of that. There's about three other parts and they're spelled out as V-a-n D-e-r P-o-l. Too much.
I"m not saying it will guarantee she works more. There may be a million reasons why she doesn't. And having a "simple" or "accessible" name doesn't guarantee success.
But why start out with such a handicap? Show business is tough enough.
Look at how Metalinda Whipplebontempe's career took off after she switched to the much simpler name, Anastasia Beaverhausen
Exactly!
When your name needs a copy editor you should reconsider.
I agree that "interesting" names help, but don't make it so difficult that people give up after five syllables and they still aren't finished yet.
Tough ones, but short:
Ralph Fiennes. Two syllables, so it's easy to remember. People eventually figured out how to pronounce it.
Sade (Sharday? Sadie? Sod?) Didn't matter. It was short. People could spell it even if they couldn't pronounce it.
Based on the photo on the 1st page of this thread, I think it would be perfectly appropriate to change the name to "Annie Poledancer."

Looks like she's found a new project.
