What's going on? Are those guys just plain lazy? Don't they know that they have people on their toes about this whole "60 Stars for 60 Years" shindig?

Posted: 6/5/06 at 8:11amThere is no host. It's just going to be 1999 all over again. But all they have announced so far were 15 presenters. There are only like 45 more names to announce. There are also the musical numbers that are keeping people on the edge of their seats.

Posted: 6/5/06 at 10:40amSuspense, it's all about suspense. I wouldn't mind being surprised at what performances they were doing. It would keep me on my toes, since I can pretty much predict the winners.

Posted: 6/5/06 at 10:43amIt's because that's how low the ratings are for the Tonys already. I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but there's probably 1.5 million people in the world who give a poo about the Tonys.

Posted: 6/5/06 at 10:53amMichael Cerveris said in an interview with Seth Rudetsky over the weekend that Sweeney's cast is doing a medley for the show: Ballad of Sweeney, Worst Pies, My Friends, Finale version of Ballad of Sweeney, so there's one number we can look forward to.

I think it's dumb that there's no host (just like I thought it was dumb when Hugh Jackman hosted for a million years, although the kickline was excellent).
Also there's no Tony announcements (although they've announced a few) , probably because the organization this year is difficult what with the million stars coming in and all (big job to organize that crap). As for the musical numbers, I don't really care since we at least know the shows they're from.

Regarding the performances:
"The Color Purple, based on both the Alice Walker novel and the acclaimed film of the same name, will perform a medley of "Hell No!" (featuring Tony nominee Felicia P. Fields) and the title tune (led by Tony nominee LaChanze). The Drowsy Chaperone, the new musical that pays homage to vintage musicals and musical theatre lovers, will perform "Show Off," the show-stopping number led by current Tony nominee Sutton Foster. Jersey Boys, which presents the story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, will offer a medley of two of the musical's hit songs, "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" and "Who Loves You." The former is a solo for Tony nominee John Lloyd Young, and the latter will include Young as well as Tony nominee Christian Hoff, J. Robert Spencer and Daniel Reichard. And, The Wedding Singer, which is based on the hit Adam Sandler film of the same name, will perform "It's Your Wedding Day," featuring current Tony nominee Stephen Lynch.
"The Pajama Game, which marks the Broadway performance debut of Harry Connick, Jr., will begin its segment with "There Once Was a Man," the rousing duet between Tony nominees Connick and Kelli O'Hara. That Richard Adler-Jerry Ross tune will lead into "Hernando's Hideaway," which features the musical's other Tony-nominated actor, Megan Lawrence. The revival of Sweeney Todd, which boasts a cast of actors who double as the show's musicians, will offer a montage of several Stephen Sondheim tunes, including portions of "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd" (featuring Tony nominee Manoel Felciano), "The Worst Pies in London" (featuring Tony nominee Patti LuPone) and "My Friends" (featuring Tony nominee Michael Cerveris). And, The Threepenny Opera, the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of the classic Kurt Weill-Bertolt Brecht musical, will offer "The Ballad of the Pimp," which features a tango between two members of its starry cast, Alan Cumming and Cyndi Lauper."

We're getting info, but it's taking awhile.
After the replacement Tony fiasco, it's nice to see that Pryce is classy enough to still present.
