Aida is closing because Deborah Cox is not a superstar.

Now, if they got someone of quality, like, say, Ashanti, it would still be running.

What's your #1 favorite, OTP?

I think it's just because any musical that, to be honest, caters to a younger audience gets slammed for not being a "true" and legit Broadway musical. (I'm sure there were a lot of people then and now who don't like Rent or B&tB) Hey, at least you're not asking about Wicked!

Its closing because producers are greedy and want to make me angry that I can't see it lol. Who knows? Maybe Disney will make an Aida movie, or better yet, maybe they secretly filmed the original cast and didn't tell anyone... I doubt it, but maybe in a pre-opening dress rehearsal. That would be awesome lol

I'll agree with Undiscovered...well for me at least! I love the show, it's one of my favorites as well(2nd I think). I just cannot stand the casting. I would have rather seen the show close earlier rather than see people like Michele Williams attempt the role. It is such a strong and beautiful show and it deserves actors that can do it justice!

It's sad but true, Broadway is a commercial venture. When a show is losing money and attendance is down, its time is up. Try as they might, with many new stars, the audiences are just not turning out anymore. It has nothing to do with any of you personally, although I would contend that if you are so offended that you have not yet seen the show, perhaps you are partially to blame. Having seen the show with the original cast, I think that it was o.k. Certainly not among the best or worst things that I have seen.

You know what I hate about monkeys? They throw their crap at cars! I never said I didn't like the show. I like it. I just think it needs to move over for something new. But, like I said, I am not that excited about All Shook Up. And RENT needs to go too...and Phantom...and Crap...and crap....

why didn't they ever ask anyone really talented to be in AIDA? I mean I know Adam came back, but really, I was hoping for someone with a bit more talent ... David Hasselhoff for instance

Let's bring back Deborah Cox is a "SUPERSTAR" thread!!! Anyone who performs as well as she does in AIDA is a "SUPERSTAR"!!! I've been gone for a while and haven't chimmed in on how GREAT and WONDERFUL she is.

I believe if Deborah didn't stay on as AIDA, it would have cloed sooner. They knew they wouldn't have found a better replacement to close the show.

I liked Aida the most out of the 3 Disney shows. Saw Simone do it here. It's the only one of the 3 that I didn't feel like I was going to step on a moving sidewalk when it was over to go to the next attraction....
