Seriously! I had Scottsboro and Jackson on the top of my "what to see" lists and now they're closing. I saw Next to Normal the day before they announced it's closing (thank God). There really isn't a whole lot that hasn't opened yet that I want to see. I really want to see How to Succeed and Spider-Man (after it's cleared up), but that's about it. Catch Me If You Can might be worth checking out..

Of the six shows I've seen in the past month, SCOTTSBORO was easily the weakest. Don't buy into the hype. And don't despair. There are other things to see.
B/c no one was interested enough to purchase tickets.
Edit: Forgive me, mysteriousgrowl. I misread your post. Though I maintain that I'd find it hard to find 5 things playing that were all stronger than the Scottsboro Boys right now. And I do disagree about the "hype." I associate hype more with a show like Spiderman. If this show were more hyped, maybe it would have sold better.

You may read my post again, if you'd like.
Been out of the loop for a while. So How to Succeed is actually coming, hmm? Did they get Harry Potter for Finch or somebody else?

It's because you touch yourself at night.
Actually, Trainwreck, they decided to go with an actor instead of a fictional character for the lead. His name is Daniel Radclliffe.
And that decision right there will be the death of the production.

Will he get naked in this production?

Well, when you produce a revival of "How to Succeed" you can cast anyone you want. Of course, know-nothings on a message board will be free to criticize you.
Because they charge too much for tickets and have succeeded in pricing out even die-hard theatre lovers like myself. They can stick their premium seats up their ass! I'm admittedly fussy about seat location, so unless it's on my "absolutely must see" list, I don't even bother. I used to see anywhere from 10-12 Broadway shows a year. Now, maybe 2 or 3 tops. Thankfully, Off-Broadway is still an affordable option.
Depending on what show you see you can get very good seats with discounts, rushes etc..?
I'm not 16, so I'm not interested in rushes or lotteries. I'm a theatre lover, not a fanatic. I prefer to purchase my tickets in advance and plan a nice evening out, as do most of the theatre-going public. If I can't get good seats to a good show without having to take out a second mortgage, I'll pass. And often do.
Dont know if it will make a difference, but there is a FB groub going to keep Scottsboro Open.

Well, if instead of creating a FB page, those folks bought tickets, it would stand a chance. What the heck do they think a FB page will do.
Does anyone want to guess what other name "TheMysteriousGrowl" used previously????
dramamama im pretty sure a fb page was the cause of Betty White getting to host Saturday night live. I hate to see this show close.
yes, it was. So let's take a quick tally....

The difference here is that SNL is always looking for a host, so why not hire someone the the public wants to see. for a b'way show, you need to put your money where your mouth is: if you ain't buying tickets, they have no reason to stay open, no matter how many people "want" it to stay.
FYI: I LOVE Scottsboro, and am highly disappointed I won't get to see it again.
how about quit arguing with me and go click "like"
Will all these closures pretty much guarantee that any half-decent musical that opens in the spring will be nominated for best musical? I forget how many are left, but since it's so rare for a closed musical to win the Tony, I'd be surprised if either BBAJ or Scottsboro are nominated as long as 4 halfway decent musicals open in the spring.

As dramamama pointed out- bad comparison. Anyone in the country can watch SNL from their homes, and for free- and it's a bit more accessible than a musical done in the style of a minstrel show about one of the most shameful acts of racism in American history in NYC with tickets that are not cheap in a poor economy.
The point was that being unnecessarily cynical well was just that... unnecessary. If people wanna have hope, why does anyone feel the need to squash it. Let the fb group grow.
Edited*** Oh and her question to me was what would a fb group do. You never know. Whatever i just want the show to stay open.

I'm a realist, not a cynic.
And I didn't argue with anyone. I made a comment.
