I thumbed through a BOY FROM OZ Playbill I got at the Flea Market and I saw "Waltzing Matilda" listed as one of the the numbers. I thumbed through the "complete" album on my iPod and found it wasn't there or on iTunes.
Anybody wanna field this question?
I can only assume the Playbill you got was from a preview & it was cut. I do not remember it being in the show
Nor do I.
It's not like it's a song that needs to be immortilized.

It was in the show on Broadway -- but briefly sung, in Chinese. Peter and his supposed brother were performing at the Mandarin Hotel in Hongkong when Judy Garland noticed that the song being sung was Waltzing Matilda, but in Chinese. The number was sung before Judy accomodated Peter's request for a number ( All I Wanted Was The Dream). Maybe the song was omitted from the tracks to give way to one song which was dropped during previews - Tenterfield Saddler?

Tenterfield Saddler. I so loved this song- maybe too schmatzy for some but it really hit home for me personally.

In the 2006 arena version of THE BOY FROM OZ, Hugh sang TENTERFIELD SADDLER towards the end, while seated on the stairs and against a backdrop of rural Australia. It was a very poignant and stirring number!
There was another song that was dropped from the recording - an ensemble number in the 2nd act. I forget its name but it was Michael Mulherin's only vocal opportunity.
That was "Sure Thing, Baby." I liked that song, wish it was on the recording.
