Posted: 2/28/09 at 10:32amIt was not her height that got her replaced. Sara is just too damn healthy. You never felt she could be the woman who falls apart the way she does.Erin DID give you the feeling she was brittle enough to eventually break. Trust me on this one.

Also, she seems to have a strange speech pattern. (her S's sound like ESH's)
That doesn't seem to have had a negative impact on Liza Minnelli's career.

I saw Sara in Pippin and was in the front row during previews and had no clue who she was, but my first thought was 'wow, someones anorexic'. She was soo thin and looked freakish with the makeup when I was that close up. But, I saw the show again from further away and she looked better.
She's OK as Fastrada, but I don't like what they did with the caracter in this production. It's lacking something.

I will never, ever stop missing this show. What I wouldn't give to be able to walk back into the Kerr and see it again.
Also, Erin was brilliant.

Personally, I preferred Gettelfinger. I totally believed she'd end up becoming the older Edie Beale, even if I never believed she'd become Ebersole. But then I never believed Davie would become Ebersole either.
I thought Davie kind of pushed it, trying too hard to show us that little Edie was already on the verge. But I imagine that's how she was directed.
Neither was really ideal, but I thought Gettelfinger had more presence. And I thought she was plenty odd enough without pushing it. But I know that a lot of people didn't like her performance.

So much amazingness. The "s" is in prime form (check out the second verse, in which Sara intones, "We met just by chansh . . .")
If we're gonna talk about Sara, can someone tell me why she joined this group and, for bonus points, can someone tell me whether the entire Broadway community is laughing uproariously behind her back?
Just kidding, I'm sure nobody even cares.

I saw this article earlier this year: I guess Sara is living in Indiana right now. From the article:
Sara Gettelfinger came back recently to Jeffersonville less in retreat and more in reflection. She expects to perform regionally as well as to teach individuals and groups. She stays in touch with those that can help revive her New York career. If not ideal to be everyone’s leading lady, Gettelfinger suggests her stature and age could help her land character roles. Her mantel void of Tony awards, Gettelfinger nonetheless has real reason to hope along with the real sense to adapt.

The Sara Gettelfinger-style story is far from rare. The land is full of those who got near to but didn't achieve ... if not actual "stardom," at least a lifetime of working regularly in commercial theatre, TV, or movies.
Look at Jere Shea, Ben Wright, Janie Sell, Russ Thacker, Leland Palmer, Lauri Peters, Marti Rolph, Virginia Sandifur, Ed Evanko, Mark Baker, Wanda Richert, Karen Prunzik, Stephen Geoffreys, Lisa Mordente, etc., etc., etc.

I seem to recall that Matt was in business school at Columbia at some point. Not sure if he's left performing altogether or not. I just saw on Facebook that he and his wife Jenny Powers just had their second baby this past weekend, actually.
