Posted: 3/22/09 at 12:51amJust wondering if anyone knows why Ms. Rivera wasn't in attendance at opening night? By choice? Scheduling conflict? It was great to see Carol Lawrence (the original Maria) in the pictures from opening night. It would have been perfect to have the living legend that is Chita Rivera there as well.

It's no secret that Sondheim and Laurents are currently not talking.
But Laurents did go on a ski trip with Hal a couple week before previews started.

and this thread has officially become useless.
I too was surprised she didnt attend opening. YES, SHE SAW THE 4th PREVIEW, but she most likely chose to do that because of a scheduling problem with the opening performance.
