Truth be told I loved Wonderland & detested Wicked. The latter is one of the most overrated shows I have ever seen. Why it is running 10 years is a mystery to me

Just re-listened to "Hail the Queen" I must be missing the theatre references. Can someone clue me in?

The original was similar to the cast recording (in every other incarnation) except the Queen held the note longer and signaled for the ensemble to keep singing with her (twice) before it ended.

By the opening on Broadway, they included little snippets of "Nothing Like a Dame" ("she is nothing like a dame"), "Ya Got Trouble" (Music Man), "Every[one]'s [pushing] Up Roses (for the Queen)" .. from Gypsy.

The cast recording was recorded in early March before previews began. Some good and bad. Some songs are better for a record than they're counterpart (Down the Rabbit Hole) or lyrics/endings had changed (Together), for example. Of course "Home (Duet)" never made it on there either (which wasn't in Japan either). Janet Dacal's voice was pretty bad mid-run though, as was Shindle on vocal rest frequently, but these particularly roles were not easy on voices (particularly Shindle's "I Will Prevail").

I believe that "Nick of Time" was cut when the role of the Mad Hatter switched from Nikki Snelson to Kate Shindle. I still listen to the score occasionally despite the awful lyrics. I really disliked the way that Alice was written in this production. The most notable parts of this production were Shindle and Sonenclar.

I do have to give credit to Wonderland for the moment where a jillion Alices crowd into the elevator, which was perfect.
