Posted: 1/3/05 at 2:43pmPretty much impossible, if your dates are right, and if you do get a seat in will be in nose bleed territory and still extremly expensive. But I would commend you if you get tkts!!

Posted: 1/3/05 at 3:13pmOnce they announced Idina's departing date as January 2nd, 2005, the show was probaly sold out in probaly the same day. When they said she changed it to January 9th, I am sure that it was sold out in a few hours because people had another chance. Chances of lottery on 1/9, I mean somebody has to win. The chances though are probaly 1/600?...Cancellation line I doubt many people would cancel for such a big event. Not really worth the standing...

There are plenty of tickets still up on the broker sites, if you're willing to pay hundreds and hundreds per seat.
Lottery is likely to be huge; for Kristin Chenoweth's last show, there were something like 1210 people there.

Broker sites you pretty much have to pay $700 and over. Cancellation would probably be the best bet, but i'm sure people will be camping out the night before in line. Lottery will be crazy. I went the 29th and there must have been 700 people for the lottery. The lines went down the street and they couldn't announce the lottery until almost 45 minutes late because the line was so long. Be prepared for over 1500 people for Idina's last show. Don't try Ticketmaster, you won't be able to get a single ticket.

Posted: 1/3/05 at 4:26pmI wasn't impressed with Shoshanna at all. sorry.

Posted: 1/3/05 at 5:39pmIt's crazy. I heard the show was sold out until July, but if you are really lucky, maybe a couple of tickets will pop up here and there on Ticketmaster. Look on Ebay.

Posted: 1/3/05 at 5:41pmShoshana certainly isn't as good as Idina yet. But she definetly will grow in the role.

Posted: 1/3/05 at 5:53pmI bought tickets for the 9th last week, and I paid 285 each for row V...just keep checking ticketsnow.com or other broker sites. If you're willing to pay a LOT of money, you might be able to scrounge up something. The cancellation line might be a good idea too, although when I talked to one of the gershwin employees he said that people were probably going to camp overnight to be the first in line.

Posted: 1/3/05 at 5:56pmi agree...unless you are willing to pay REDICULOUS amounts of money for so-so seats, your best bet would be to wait for shoshana. she's incredible, and no doubt will be AMAZING in the role. good luck!

A broker... how is that different from a scalper?
Hah, at dinner tonight my mother told me that her boss's daughters friend is roomates with "the girl who's going to play Elphaba". I assume she meant Shoshana. But the whole sentence made me giggle to much to press any further. Either someone is mistaken or I finally have my 5 degrees of seperation to Wicked.

Posted: 1/3/05 at 11:34pmBs.... wickedtickets.com is selling two seats in ORCHESTRA BB. Those are lotto seats, aside from two seats, which are not together (so they wouldn't be sold together, presumably), and I happen to know someone who is sitting in one of those seats on Sunday.

Posted: 1/3/05 at 11:40pmDitto. I've known people who have bought from ticketsnow and other sites like that and have been turned away at the theatre with fakes.

you know they might not have lottery at all. when major cast changes happened at Hairspray, like MJ Winokur leaving, they werent available at all. I believe the cast/crew/creative team purchased a good chunk of the student rush seats and standing room.
