"I feel like all of the Annaleigh fans jump on the non-fans too quickly. It's okay if people don't like her performance."
I don't think anyone is jumping down anyone's throat. But sides are just stating their opinions.
I don't think Morrible is a role that requires a good singer to play it. Strong acting is what counts for the role of Morrible. She hardly sings at all and I think it works just as well for her singing lines to be spoken - so long as they have a rhythmic quality.
Yes, I agree 100% with brettystar

i loved annaleighs perofrmance when i saw wicked she was on and got tons of laughs. i have to add when i did see her first performance she was weak but when i went i thought she grown into the role really well, and i loved how she did her lines differently than other glindas did. people who dont go every month or week, think she is very fantasic.
i agree with maya,bretty,shh292 about madam morrible. i looked at other casts for wicked and morrible looks alot younger and so does the wizard.
i did see david as fieyro and thought he was good, and i also saw joey as fieyro and he was good too. they both had their own way to approach the role.
i loved lisa too as elphie and chrsity was great as nessarose.
Usually I find most hyper Glindas to be annoying, but Annaleigh has this natural charm and adorable-ness that I can’t help but love her. She’s hilarious… and so friggin’ random and weird, I love it, lol. She tries to be original, but I guess she’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I think in her first show she was just… lost. But now I think she finally is comfortable in the role and you can tell how much she loves to perform up there.
David – The first time I saw him, I thought his acting was excellent, but his voice just wasn’t… “on” that night. And then the second time I saw him, it was the opposite – beautiful singing, but only mediocre acting. I think he grasps the character well though. He has this sweetness to him that I really like.
I think Miriam is hilarious. She definitely is unique. I don’t really care that she doesn’t sing. I love her interactions with Annaleigh on stage, such as when she doesn’t let Glinda touch the Grimmerie, when she grabs Glinda’s arm and yells at her during the march of the witchhunters, and in the end, her reaction after Glinda mentions “prison.” I think she’s great.
I would love to see Lisa now! I keep hearing amazing things about her.
A good friend of mine who is a singer saw Annaleigh a couple weeks ago. She is a big fan of Wicked, but wasn't thrilled with her performance at all. Aside from having issues with her singing, my friend felt like she was incorporating too much Legally Blonde into the character of Glinda. I've seen videos online of Annaleigh, and I understand what she is talking about.
Personally I have never seen her perform before, so I cannot judge her yet. That's just what I've heard, and seen on the internet. I hope to get the chance to see her perform once she is in Chicago to decide for myself what I think of her.
My personal Glinda favorite is Erin Mackey :)! She'll be missed in the Chicago show!
Yes, Annaleigh is the Glinda for smart people.
Are you kidding, Are you kidding?
People keep saying she's bringing LB into her role, but I believe that is just the way she is. She was a Glinda understudy on tour and played the role similarly to how she plays it now, and that was before LB.
mmm... touche Maya -
I told her at the SD I thought she brought LB to the role and it was amazing that way, she seemed kind of weirded out that I said that but now I see why
I saw Brescia as Elphaba back in April 06. Might have been her first ever, since she wasn't even in the playbill yet as the Elphie standby.
And she was awwwwful. I understand she was nervous, but there's a fine line between nervous and unprofessional. She dropped lines left and right, was constantly shaking, and even after one particularly awful mangling of a line, APOLOGIZED. She turned to the audience and went "I'm sorry, guys". Everyone laughed, but I was in shock. It was ridiculous.
Elphaba3, I completely agree with you regarding Lisa. It was her show. I hope to see her again.

SirNotAppearing,
Lisa is never mentioned in the Playbill.

I don't know why she isn't in it. I have seen the show 9 times since she's been standby and she's never been in it. When she does goes on they will put the white slip in the Playbill saying her accomplishments.
I remember when LBB was the standby for Glinda she was mentioned in the playbill but her bio wasn't there and neither was her headshot. I remember thinking this was odd because Eden Espinosa, who at the time was the Elphaba standby, had her bio and headshot in there.
And add me to the Lisa fans. I haven't even seen her in Wicked, but I absolutely adore her. She needs to originate another role in a good show. As in not 'Times.
Lisa has that in her contract. That way, when she goes on, she gets the large slip of white paper with her full bio and (I think) head shot on it. It draws more attention to her and her career than the little piece of paper that just mentions her name.
Yes, I went 4/16 and in the playbill is Lisa's bio and headshot on the slip of white paper.
Personally, I enjoyed her up to "Defying Gravity" and then she seemed to struggle. In "Defying Gravity" she ended up breaking the last note into two to try and hit it again. Her "No Good Deed" was also not that strong. Maybe she's getting sick as well. Her "Wizard and I" was fabulous though!
I never would have guessed Lisa was sick. She blew the roof off.
I'm glad you enjoyed her then :)
We can agree to disagree.

But all that people would have to do is read her bio if it was in the playbill. I don't see how the piece of white paper in the playbill with her bio and headshot would draw more attention since half the time those pieces of paper fall out or they are not even in there.

Because when you open up the Playbill, it's the first thing you look at. Brescia's insert is much larger than the typical one, and contains a lot more information than just her name.
