I will post a full review tomorrow but I was blown away. stephanie Torns was a fantastics Elphaba.
Sorry to rain on this parade, but I was there tonight as well and would not call her fantastic, and I certainly wasn't blown away.

She's competent enough and makes a fine second cover, but she clearly doesn't have the stamina or vocal strength to play this role regularly.

She does have spunk, and her Wizard and I is quite good. Defying Gravity was fine until the last verse (the important one), which was REALLY sharp and off-key.

By the middle of act 2, she'd clearly run out of gas. No Good Deed was a weak point- she forgot a whole set of lyrics and the last note was horribly off-key.

As the second cover, she's fine in a pinch (and much better than her predecessor, Chelsea Krombach as Elphaba). However, she's not in the same league (or anywhere close to) Mandy Gonzalez or Jen Dinoia.

I noticed a few screw ups (esp in defying gravity and no good deed) but other than that her voice was fine and she did not 'run out of gas'. She was better than Ana...the last Elphaba I saw. Katie. Her acting and comedic timing were great...her singing. Not so much.

Katie Rose Clarke has always been one of the weakest Glindas vocally. Believe it or not, tonight was the strongest I've ever heard her sound, probably because she was out all last week.

I also didn't like Andy Karl in the first act, but in the second act I thought he was much better.

I went tonight hoping to see Jenny, but was pretty shocked when I saw the understudy board. I thought Jenny was going to be on the next two weeks. I really enjoyed Stephanie though. I think her peformance was pretty good considering it was her first on broadway and considering that she is an understudy who barely gets to go on. She did indeed mess up a line on NGD, but she covered it well and I don't think anyone who had not seen the play would notice. There were alot of people at stage door, and everyone there was talking about how wonderful they thought she was, and they couldnt believe she was an understudy.

Her WAI was definitely one of the best I have seen. She did the special riff on "things i've never felt" which I have always liked. She had a great ending on that song too.I loved her DG, it seemed she was jumping a bit around on the keys, but I loved her whole flying portion, and her ending. No good deed was her weakness though. She was out of steam by the last note for sure. I think if she went on more often she would have better stamina. On a brighter note, I enjoyed her acting throughout the play and you could tell she was really putting her all into it. She definitely had tears coming out during curtain call.

All in all I would love to see her again. She said at SD she is going on tomorrow night and Friday night, as well.

She's not one of the strongest vocally, but I wouldn't say she's one of the weakest either.

The only Glinda that I think is a weaker vocalist is Kendra Kassebaum.

What lyrics did she miss in No Good Deed, and how did she cover it up if she missed an entire set?
Kendra Kassebaum I think is one of the stronger Glindas out there, with acting and singing (not really her high notes) but in general. I swear nothing can top the pair of Kerry Ellis and Kendra. One of the best pairs i've ever seen

Kendra is probably my favorite to play Glinda. In my opinion, even though she lacks the upper range most people have for this role, her full belt in Thank Goodness makes up for it, lol.
I agree that Kendra is the weakest vocally.

I think that Kendra is one of the weakest at everything. Katie Rose is in no way the worst vocally. I think she is one of the better vocalists(at least of the girls I have seen).

I have yet to see Steph but I wish I would have been there last night(or tonight, friday night). It was her Broadway debut so I'm sure that she was nervous and like CPat said she barely went on in the tour so her stamina isn't built up yet.
