I predict another 10 years.
Not as long as Rent will last.

I'm putting my estimate at around 5-6 years. Wicked is incredibly popular but I don't think it has the staying power of say Phantom, Lion King, or Beauty and the Beast. Those shows have a very wide fan base across many ages. While there is certainly diversity in Wicked's fan base, it isn't nearly as diverse as the aforementioned shows. That's just my guess.

I disagree Clark. I think the fanbase is equally as diverse as those shows. With the ties to the Wizard of Oz, with it hitting all the young demographics because every 12 year old girl who's heard of it wants to be in it, and the subject matter is something that can be appreciated by old and young alike. I think Wicked has some pretty strong staying power. I'm not saying it'll beat out Phantom or even Beauty, but I could see it hitting the 10 year mark with a large possibility for more.

I hope I'm wrong. When I first saw the show I despised it. I saw it last week in Atlanta and loved it. I really had a great time and I'm seeing it again in a couple of days. It was really great. I don't know why my opinion chaned, i just enjoyed it. Perhaps it was our dismal University Theatre season this year and Wicked was the first decent thing I'd seen since October? Five of the six university shows were lowlights of my theatre going career.

I hope for a very long time.
Just another question: How long do you think Avenue Q will stay on Broadway?
"10 years, 13 days, 2 hours, 48 minutes, and 32 seconds."
God your an idiot!!!!
Its gonna be there :
10 years, 13 days, 2 hours, 48 minutes, and 53 seconds.
:) :) :) :)
Nooo! It's going to be there for exactly:
10 years, 13 days, 2 hours, 49 minutes, and 0 seconds! Duh!
What I love is when I read, "When I first saw it, I hated it, then I saw it again and it was great." My question is, if you "hated" something, WHY see it again? Why take a seat away from someone who either loves it or hasn't seen it? It just makes no sense to me. As to how long "Wicked," or any show will run...no one knows. Had someone asked that about "Cats" early on, I'm sure no one would have guessed it to be the longest running show...ever. I think "Wicked" has more staying power than "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Lion King." But, that's just me...

I think that if they want it to last that long they will have to move it to a samller theater.

Vincent,
You've never ever done something once and not liked it but you discover on the second go round it really isn't so bad? If you say you haven't, I don't believe you. I guess I'm really a horrible person because my ticket from last week was a lottery ticket and I knew I already had guaranteed seats for Friday depriving others who might not have tickets at all from a chance for seeing the show? I need to be damned to hell, I know.

How about it just comes off now and then we'll all be happy.
Sounds like a good plan to me.
within 4 years it will be just a memory....and then maybe so will all these ridiculous Wicked threads that multiply like rabbits
