re: Wicked Band Wagon

OnLastRefrain, I agree with everything that you said.. I think she should have won the Tony for RENT.. However, Idina is such a great performer I think she will overcome the "Elphaba" title and do well in whatever she is in coming up in the year... A great performer can make any role great..

re: Wicked Band Wagon

won

Edit: This post was actually me correcting Alto's misspelling of the word won in her above post. Not that I won...

re: Wicked Band Wagon

Well, I knew ABOUT Cheno around her YAGMCB days but I wasn't a big fan until I really got into Broadway, now I'm in love. There. heh

re: Wicked Band Wagon

LittleFish definitely wins, lol. I WISH I had seen JLT in all her projects (I'll be making a point to do so from now on for sure).

re: Wicked Band Wagon

i wasn't such a big fan of kristin, but i fell in love with idina as maureen in rent when i first heard the OBCR in 1997. since then, my adoration has only grown with still i can't be still, the wild party, here, and wicked.

i loved the book wicked before i even knew it was to become a musical. imagine my surprise when i was in the city seeing chicago, and saw a billboard for wicked, the musical. i was BEYOND EXCITED, and even more so when i found out later on that idina would be portraying elphaba.

i still like the book better, simply because the musical cut out A LOT of major plot.

re: Wicked Band Wagon

I was a fan of Jen after seeing her in Urinetown. I immediately liked Kristin after seeing her perform "My New Philosophy" on the Tony's and, a few years later, seeing her live in concert. I liked Rent before I liked Wicked- so I knew Idina from that.

Don't worry- its just Wicked. Pretty soon people will be (and I suspect already are) freaking out about Shoshana and the next Glinda. Its the characters that the Wickedites tend to be obsessed with. Unfortunately, Idina will probably be remembered for Elphaba. That is not inherently bad, but I think it is hard for some people to recognize her for anything else she has done.

re: Wicked Band Wagon

I loved RENT, AIDA, The Wild Party, and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown before Wicked, so I knew of both, and I really liked them both. I already thought they were both fabulous separately. When I heard of Wicked and found out that they were both in it, I knew I had to see it with both of them in it. Sadly, I never got the chance because I saw it after the Cheno had already left. re: Wicked Band Wagon But yeah, I liked them beforehand.
