Wicked Cancellation Line

Alright, I'm desperate to see Stephanie J Block's last show, and I've never done the cancellation line before. How soon outside the Gershwin should I wait? I'm still overall confused at how it works--the minute the BO opens can I just saunter on in and get a seat? And can I do the lotto while in the line? Thanks so much.

There were about 6 or 7 people still on the cancellation line about 15 minutes before the show tonight, if that helps you at all.

You can't predict things like someone's last show.
People could be camping out... or... it could be five minutes before curtain.

How can you predict people's fanatacism?

Be prepared to pay full price and be prepared to wait. Like KJ said, you can't predict how early people will get there... just try to be there EARLIER.

The one thing I can advise you on is where to stand. A lot of people will be told to stand by the doors to the box office when in reality the cancellation line starts at the far left wall (when facing the theater). I don't know if that's changed or not and if someone knows different please, by all means, correct me! , but I have been there before when the people in line at the doors were told to move to the wall and they weren't happy to have to loose their places in line.

Also, the cancellation line is NOT a guaranteed seat, but USUALLY the first in line get lucky and they are always great house seats.

PS - Steph's last day is also the day of the Tony Awards so perhaps that will have some affect on the number of people who will show up.

Also don't believe a word of what the guy who runs the line says. The day I went he said the first 10 generally get in easy (this was a Sunday mat show) and only 3 seats freed up (and I was number 5). Being as this is her last, I would highly doubt if even any of those did. Your best bet is to come with a friend and do both lotto and cancellation.

Would I be better off trying cancellation tickets for the June, Saturday the 14th's performances or for the 15th performance? Are cancellation tickets sold for both performances on Saturday at once or would I have to go back for the evening show?

Cancellation tickets are sold for each individual showing at different times - so you technically have two chances on a matinee day.

And there's really no way to do both cancellation and lotto. You have to be physically outside the doors and present during the drawing if you win lotto. So you and a friend can't both do lotto and cancellation line - at least one person needs to stay in the cancellation line (and trust me, it will already have formed by the time lotto is drawn), so you decrease your chances at winning lotto.

And Popular is right, they usually have people line up on the far left wall outside the theater before the BO opens and they bring them inside.
