hi everyone - i'm not sure if i'm posting this question in the right place, but has anyone ever sat in the Partial View seats at the Gershwin Theatre (rows bb and cc)? It says you can see all of the action, but miss part of the stage decor. Does anyone have any experience with these seats?
Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you :)

Posted: 3/26/06 at 2:49pmI sat there in partial view a couple of months back (EE) and I wasnt at the end of the row - there were some seats to the left of me. My view was excellent. Sure there was a tiny bit of the set I didnt see at rare times during the evening, but that hardly mattered. The person to my right had paid over $100 for his seat - and boy was he annoyed that mine was somewhat cheaper for essentially the same view.

Posted: 3/26/06 at 2:55pmIn all of the partial view seats, you only miss the side you're on. If you're on the left, you miss the farmhouse. If you're that close, you may miss a little more. When you're farther back (I was in row G), you see more. Slightly. Most of the action takes place at Center stage, so you don't miss that.

I was in BB on the house right aisle. The only part I really missed was during March of the Witch Hunters, when Boq is up on the platform. Everything else was visible. I don't think there's really any "stage decor" upstage left that you would really miss out on.
There's also the added bonus of being able to see into the wings and see chorus boys changing.
Yankee, I got my seats online, so it is possible. I think they just release them after the rest of the house is sold out.

Posted: 3/26/06 at 4:00pmI only do partial view seats whenever I see the show, and yep...you can get them online even when the rest of the place is not sold out. They're a great buy.

Thank you to everyone for your responses - i'll def get the tickets now :)
Do you think it would be better to sit on the left or right (when looking at the stage)?

They are not only available at the box office.
If you go to Ticketmaster.com and select the $55 price level, those are the partial view seats.

Posted: 3/26/06 at 5:16pmThe only annoying thing about the partial view seats is the people behind you complaining abut the partial view seats. For half the price, it's worth it.

You can get them on ticketmaster, select the amount of seats you want *partial works only with 1 or 2 i believe* and you select $55.
I've sat in them, and I preferred it to the normal seats. You can see their entrances and stuff, so it might be considered 'taking away some of the magic', but in general, they're great.

Can someone here tell me if seats all the way upfront in the AA, BBs, CCs, DD, EE but all the way to the side, are good? Can you see most of the action?
Thanks

"They're only available at the box office."
Wrong. Got mine on Ticketmaster. Choose the option around $55. It might be Price Level 3. If you choose it, it should make some of the other boxes say "n/a."
Partial view isn't bad at all, but if you get it, I recommend sitting a bit further back. I sat in Row J.

Posted: 5/22/08 at 1:09pmExactly, Millie. I got mine on Ticketmaster for mid-June about a month ago. I was just doing a random search for Wednesday matinee tickets in June and they popped up. I thought it was a typo.

Brettystar,
Which seat did you have? Just curious as I've only heard good things about partial view up til now.

I haven't seen Wicked from partial seats. The first time I saw it I sat in N row center, then I saw it three days later 5 rows from the front in Orchestra and it was like seeing two different shows.
My opinion (from seeing many shows over the years - mainly from A reserve) is that it is always best to save up until you can experience it without any partial or obstrucitng views.
I know that this is not always possible as it is expensive but it's just my opinion is all.
Hope you enjoy the show no matter where you sit though.

-Jeff Bowen's worst onstage line flub.

Posted: 5/22/08 at 6:35pmI booked mine WAY in advance... I have some for July 1 that I bought back in mid-November. I wanted to make sure I got them, haha.

The ones farther back are best - you barely miss anything. Row G and back.
The first couple of rows you miss more.
