Oh my god, and the guy with the glasses was so freakin whiny, I mean get over it
And could you believe what those lesbians were wearing- who do they think they are- Gwenyth, Madonna? Not!
See? Everyone who has replied are cool people and the vast majority are Rentheads (Patronus lol who are we kidding?)
Anyway I mean the thread to be more humorous, not mean spirited at all. The topic is what would you LIKE to be: obsessed with Wicked or obsessed with Rent. Please let's not be mean to either side.
Just to add a little more of my two sense. I used to be an even bigger Wicked fan but now whenever I go near Wicked, I see SOOOOOOOOOOO many teenage girls (and their moms) that its becoming uncomfortable for me to be there. I feel like there's a crim just waiting to be commited being in that crowd. Again, this is just an over guestimation on my part. You can be a teenager and love Wicked and not be an Ozalot. I just see so many young girls who can't possible have the need to defy gravity at such an age. Just a personal peeve of mine hehe. I think finding DRS and Rent (and even a little In My Life) has been godsent lol
No problem dancingthrulife.
And hey ClumsyDude, good joke keep the funny sh*t up :)
"That Mimi is so like that slut Marcy!"
"The one dating the football star?"
"Yeah. She has STD all over her, right girlfriend?"
"She couldn't bring it if she tried."
"Wait...what movie were we talking about?"
"Clueless?"
"Cha! I love Alicia Silver...what's her name?"
Anthony Rapp said it best during the original press, "Labels are for cans."
I have never really been comfortable with the RentHead label.

True. It is human nature alas to label everything. I mean, names themselves are labels.

Im finally gonna answer this question- Im both. I love Wicked for its amazing music and amazing story of friendship and strength and RENT touches you with its truly heartbreaking story and rocking soundtrack.
GOOD FOR YOU Patronus!
SirLiir, i don't know what your problem is with teenage girls and seeing wicked...
ClumsyDude, BSB =so much cooler than Nsync LOL

"You mean THE JOEY MAC from NKOTB?"
"Yah."
"He was SO hot in it. I LUV him."
"Wasnt Eye-Dina in it too?"

What do you have against teenage girls, we just like wicked, what is your problem, i don't get it.
sirliir did you ever consider the option there is a reason teenage girls love Wicked? They are not all just shallowly dancing through life.
The musical represents something very important to the modern female adolescent. Feeling like an outsider, finding your voice, finding a friend, figuring out who you are, overcoming hardships when it seems all odds are against you, finding love, moving on...
Society seems to glass over the reality and the depth of teenage uncertainty...myself and those I associate with included. I joke about angsty girls...but to take another viewpoint as someone who lived through it, and as someone who was a student of psychology it is not all farse melodramatics.
Pick up a copy of Reviving Ophelia, you will see why so many young women are drawn to the storyline and the lyrics of Wicked.
xrent_headx, It's nothing against teenager girls who like Wicked in general, it's just those REALLY obsessed (and obvious) ones that border on creepy that concern me.

FYI an OZALOT is a hardcore fan of Hugh Jackman and the Boy From Oz.
I'm a Renthead. I like the story of Wicked and a few of the songs but after the OBC left the show wasn't the same. Rent has more meaning and the songs never get old. And the casts are wonderful hehe
Oddexoticcreature, your point is well taken. As a student of psychology myself, I fully (to the best of my ability, I being male) understand the message the show conveys for woman. It is very empowering for them and that showcases the power and appeal of the show. The people I was discussing before are the people who take the show a little too far.
The topic right now has veered widely off course however. I was just asking whether people would be more partial to being a Wicked head or a Rent Head. As you can see, we have gone down a different yellow brick road. Lets get back to the right one, shall we?
so Sirliir you are basicly saying that if i'm obessed with RENT thats fine but, if i , a teenage girl, becomes obesssed with wicked it's just creepy and concerning?
No, not at all. I didn't mean to imply that and I apologize if that came off that way. I do not know you personally xrent_headx but the people I am talking about are the 'extreme' people. For example, people (yes, there are obsessed teenage/adult male and female fans to be sure) who fully immense themselves in Wicked, calling it greatest show ever, worshipping Idina and Kristen, etc etc. You like Rent too so that means you are fine haha You are varied.
this thread is funny =) but renthead all the way!
I understand what you are saying Liir, but these sort of generalizations that a lot of people have about groupies (lets face it, the Rent Heads and Wicked Heads are at best viewed as groupies and in many cases they are) is exactly why I am not comfortable with the term.
Groupies in general have such a negative connotation from the perspective of general society. It's a disturbing trend. Perhaps, I am just sensitive to the issue because being in New York recently and seeing both Wicked and Rent Heads I literally shuddered thinking, "Oh geez, is this what I was like back when I was a teen?"
I'd like to hope not. Sadly, it seems there is a fine line between loving the show and holding cast members hostage in your basement.

Patronus, I must say it was very weird to see a non-Norbert avatar above your name
Cool poster, though
*End threadjack*
I change it up every now and then. Don't want to be labeled as a NorbertHead.
Besides, with In My Life closing on Sunday I need to show the love. Afterall, I am a LemonHead.
Touche!
