Congrats to Schwartz.
I really hope they make a London OCR.
Every day a little death
in the parlor, in the bed
how many other OBCR's have gone platinum? What I mean to say, is how big of an honor is it?

Don't hold your breath. They don't have the money to record the show again AND hire the people to go in and actually make it sound like Idina is singing on pitch.
^ Well they could do one with Kerry. No denying she's got pitch.
Lol. Since when does "wicked" not have enough money? How many sold out productions are there a day? I'm sure that they could afford another recording. I must admit though, as much as I love Idina I'd love to hear someone new. :)
I'm sure the money thing was a joke, at least I hope so. lol.
I'd love to have a new CD with Kerry.

Yeah, I don't want another recording with Idina, I could care less about that. I just wanted to hear some other takes on the role, and maybe this time they're record more of the music. My favorite part of the show is the classroom freak out with the lion, I love the music and dancing, but I know they won't ever record that.
I too would like to know which other cast albums have gone platinum.

There have been several platinum cast albums over the years, dating back to My Fair Lady, Hello Dolly and Hair. I think the most recent might have been Mamma Mia, but I'm not sure.

Let's pretend that all shows are sold out - which to the most part they are - there are currently four produtions running and the Apollo Voc holds around 2,000 something...
A lot of cash...sure they could afford to do it but what's the point when they can still make money out of the one recording?
I really want one with Kerry though.

most likely Mamma Mia and Lion King have.
PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is Platinum... and GREAT for WICKED! Yet another well deserved tick in it's column.
yay for Wicked. And just like Margo said, there are others who have gone platinum.
Oh and for everyone's information RENT is the best selling cast recording of all time.

Congrats to Wicked, and here's hoping for an LCR.

It's not that big a deal. Lestat went platinum yesterday.
I wish they would do a complete symphonic recording of this show.... the first cd misses so many great moments... a cd of various cast members singing the singles from the show would be awesome too.
