Posted: 3/26/05 at 2:29pmI'm still kind of confusified about the whole "lift" aspect. Is it that the theater does not have trap doors, or they do not specifically have a lift? If they have no trap doors, which I highly doubt, the absence of the monstrous hat is explained, as the hat has to be pulled through the trap door under the stage. Trap doors present, then, I cannot imagine why it wasn't there. An explanation of the No Good Deed entrance would be well appreciated, along with any other changes.

Posted: 3/26/05 at 2:41pmThe Princess of Wales Theatre has many trap doors -- it's a relatively new theatre. However, the producers are worried that other theatres on the tour may not have one, so they've changed the staging a bit to accomodate different venues.

Posted: 3/26/05 at 3:07pmI loved Shoshana as well! I think all the women who have played Elphaba have been phenominal (idina, shoshana, kristy, eden, stephanie...)

What about Jenna? How was she? She's the one I'm most desperate to see...

Posted: 3/26/05 at 5:28pmregarding the lottery...it seem to totally depend on the day. granted the first time i tried was for a matinee during march break for the public schools here...there were still a lot more people than i expected. then i tried again on a sunday, and my best guess would be that there were less than half that the previous wednesnday. however, on the sunday, of the five people i knew who were there, only one won (and luckily i was the one to go with him). not sure if that's any kind of help, but i'd say give it a try. or see if there are stools available for purchase in advance for any time during the run. they may be far from the stage, but for $26, i'm all for it!

Posted: 3/26/05 at 6:41pmthat's sad to read about Kendra because she was probably one of the best Maureens in the bway cast of RENT.. I saw EVERY maureen from Idina to present and she has MAJOR vocal power.

Jenna's fantastic -- that girl has one helluva voice. The role is too small for her talents, but she makes the most of it.

Hey All that Jazz...What the heck are talking about???? What flying scene in the song "No Good Deed"? I have seen the show twice in NYC and I never thought Elphie was flying during that scene. Can you explain yourself? Or can somebody tell me what he is talking about?
Whaz up? Whaz UPPPPP???? (second half said with a high falsetto voice)

Uh. If they actually end up in a theatre without a trapdoor, what would they do for the end of the show? A trapdoor is kind of... needed. Color me confused after trying to figure this one out.

Thank you comma for the info. That makes sense.
Does Elphie still fly during the end of the first act? And how are concessions made for the trap doors used in the NYC show? I am being careful not to give away SPOILERS in my word use.

Just to answer a few of the questions...yes she still does fly in defying gravity...the number is stages same as usual but again the tour does not have the stairs going down so they enter from the side of the stage and the broom then does enter flying in from the side of the stage....the book lifts up on a little hingy thing from the stage in no good deed but she walks in from the side....I was worried about the end scene but never fear that remains the same...there is no lift but a trap door and that is the same as on broadway...they didn't put in the traps and lifts because of some theatres not having the trap room etc but I think they should have used them where available...they add so much... and ya simplejoys I was just as confused as you...but they decided to have elphaba fly in for no good deed but since the accident that has been nixed...too bad it would have been very cool...
I'm trying to think of other questions....Jenna was a fabulous Nessa and I think after seeing her now she would make an amazing elphaba....I'd love to catch that performance. As well David Garrison as the wizard...unbeleivable...for the first time I enjoyed Wonderful...never really got the point of it being in there....but he's very cleaver and there's tons of dancing in it with him...excellent performance...and as for Carole Kane I mean she was made for the part...I know it's said she doesn't sing but you would never know it....there's nothing bad you can say about her....other than that the staircases on the sides of the stages are not there but they have units that slide on and off when needed. Oh and whoever asked what I thought aboout Derick Williams...the first night I wasn't so taken by him but the second night he grew on me alot...his acting is good and understands the character just his voice in dancing through life was a little odd to me...not bad just odd...not quite as powerful i just felt he was holding back a bit but second night he was okay....I've seen better but I liked him more than I thought.

After hearing all this about the "no good deed" entrance on tour, I forgot how it is on Broadway. How does Elphaba enter for "No Good Deed" on broadway? I know this is a stupid question seeing as I have seen the show on Broadway already.
