I just ordered tickets for both shows while I am in Chicago and I was wondering if anyone had been to these theatres and knew how good/bad the seats were... I found seating charts but i couldnt find where the overhang was... Help! Thanks!

ORCH, row X, seats 107-108
Jersey Boys

Posted: 4/28/08 at 6:17pmI have been to both theatres multiple times to see both shows, and I have found that in general (with a few exceptions) there really isn't a bad seat in either of those theatres. They are both wonderfully laid out.

I dont know I think row x in the orch at the Oriental is pretty far back. Its a huuuge theater.
I think youre better off at Jersey Boys--I dont think you'll miss anything from the balcony.
BTW--you gotta read the history of the Shubert Theater where JB is currently playing. Those dress circle and balcony seats were built in a way so that the white audience wouldnt have to see the black people in the cheaper seats! wow!

ive seen wicked from th loge[front of balcony] and it was great, you could see everything. so that would be about Orch Row P, but Row X seems a little far ack, and IDK if you will miss some stuff happening at the top of the stage[because of the dress circle overhanging], but it shouldnt be that big of a problem.
jersey boys ive sat on the uppermost balcony, 4th level, looking at down at everything, but even there the view wa fine, except for missing the fron of the stage completely. from where you sit, you may have this problem since your kinda in the back in the dress circle, but otherwise should be fine.

as said before, theres hardly a bad seat in those houses, even though they are pretty big. have fun!

^Seeing a show in the balcony is very different from seeing the same show from the orchestra seat below it.
Nevertheless, the Wicked seats are fine. The only bad seats are the partial view, and even most of those are okay.

Posted: 4/28/08 at 11:02pmThe first time I saw Wicked, I sat in row Z, seat 24 (AKA the furthest seat in the back on the right side), and had a perfect view of the stage. You'll be fine.

I have seen Wicked about 7 times now and tried to get better seats about 5 of those times. My name has not been pulled out of the hat once. Funny story though, one time when I was there a lady's name get pulled for tickets, and then two names later she was called again! Imagine how much that would suck. I know they say they go through each piece of paper before the show to check for doubles, but I really have a hard time believing that.
I have also done rush once for JB and that was very early on in the run. There were not a lot of people that showed up. But I don't know if the line is longer now that word is getting out about the show... I mean I really think a lot of people have no idea about the rush tickets.

You'll be fine for Wicked in Chicago, I sat row G, but the orchestra is at an incline, you will have NO PROBLEM, the seats are great!
For Jersey Boys, I sat waaaayy over the right in the 3rd to last row of the balcony, and it was actually pretty good. The only thing that you will miss from your seats isthe screens that they project images on, but those images aren't that important.
Good luck, write us a review!

Posted: 5/21/08 at 10:53amThank you for the help! I saw Jersey Boys last night for the first time and it was fantastic. My seats, however blew. Granted, they were partial, but It just depends on the theater and show. I missed all of the projections and the upper half of the actors were were on the second level of the stage. I took my mom so we joked about it and just moved after intermission. Once we moved to row c in the dress circle (we were originally g) we were perfect. We are seeing wicked tonight so I will post later!

Posted: 5/21/08 at 11:18amThe Dress Circle at the LaSalle Bank Theater (or whatever it is they are calling it now) IS NOT THE BALCONY. And you will miss pretty much anything that happens above the stage level. There are only 7 rows in the Dress Circle, and Row G is the last (there are 10 seats that make up row H, but they are off to the sides). Above the Dress Circle is the Mezzanine, and above THAT is the balcony. So you have two levels ABOVE you that jet out in front even further. Whereas the Dresss Circle overhangs the Orchestra around row S, The Mezzanine is around row L. They shouldn't even sell Dress Circle seats unless they are charging "obstructed view" prices.

Posted: 5/21/08 at 11:44amfor Jersey boys, DO NOT get dress circle or rush. The dress circle has a huge overhang and you miss alot of stuff that happens high up and the stage is high and from row A and B you cannot see anything downstage, you miss ALOT of the show
