Wicked at Bryant Park

Why was "Wicked" performed yesterday at Bryant Park? It was scheduled for a different date. I enjoyed the performers immensely but fans of the show were given the wrong date. Also, why was "Next to Normal" canceled? The hostess never mentioned the reason. These shows are great but why must they perform the exact same selections year after year?

Yeah I know, It was announced two days ago. I don't thinhk they gave a reason. Love Wicked, but I was kinda disappointed, just because I was looking forward to Next to Normal,

n2n wasn't canceled; it was switched. WICKED was originally scheduled for August 6 and (I believe due to some n2n cast members' schedules) was switched with n2n. So, WICKED got July 23 and n2n got August 6. I'm interested to see who comes out to perform from n2n. I'm sure Alice won't be there...but it'll be fun to see understudies for sure!!!

I wasn't aware of the switch. I was not complaining but was surprised and felt that Wicked fans could have missed-it since it was scheduled for a different day. Thanks for the info.

I'm a giant Wicked fan, and I really don't care that I missed the show. Why does it matter anyway? All fans missed was a couple of songs?

A few songs by understudies that were surely put up on Youtube by Thursday night. Shucks.

It's fun to see the cast perform, especially during the soundcheck. And the intense makeout sessions between Dee and Kevin this year were pretty fun.

And the only standby was Laura Woyasz; neither Dee Roscioli not Kevin Kern are standbys/understudies.

I personally think the Bryant Park concerts are fun and I get to see performances from a lot of shows I might not ordinarily want to see. If it weren't for Bryant Park, I probably wouldn't have seen AIDA, AVENUE Q, and several other shows that I enjoyed.

And, sure, it's definitely available on YouTube (I even filmed it myself - but mine isn't on YouTube)...but, as we all know, seeing something like this live and experiencing the whole "live, open-air, park" event is much different than watching some YouTube clips.
