STILL involved?
She was involved when it first opened. Then left. And just recently came back within this year.

I know that Idina is bored with the role. I'm not sure if Eden is or not.
I don't understand the argument about "still involved". She has been involved in Wicked numerous times. I didn't say that she was playing Elphaba non-stop. I meant that she had been involved as Elphaba a lot.

Posted: 10/15/06 at 11:56pmYou people crack me up! Do you honestly think that ANY of the actresses you're mentioning can afford to pass up a steady gig as a lead in a sit-down production? Get real.

"I know that Idina is bored with the role."
Which, of course, is why she is doing it in London right now.
As for Eden, like DG said, why would she pass up the opportunity to open a sit-down production in LA? Surely it pays the bills, and somehow I think an actress with at least a little bit of creativity and imagination in her could think of some way to keep it interesting for herself.

Posted: 10/16/06 at 12:05amYou never know; perhaps she IS bored of the role. But I'm sure that when the producers came calling with big $$$, she figured she could deal with it for a few more months.

Posted: 10/16/06 at 12:06amNot to mention the fact that Eden is FROM LA - and if you don't think being able to settle into a comfortable living situation while you work an open-ended gig means a LOT, then you don't have a real awareness of how this business works for a WORKING actor.

I agree with DG. She's from here in LA.. her family is still here why wouldnt she come back. I saw her in NYC in may and I loved her as Elphie. I hope they announce the cast soon. Thanks a lot guys now I am all excited.. And since eden is off from Wicked in NYC it makes this rumour all the more possible!
yey:)

Posted: 10/16/06 at 5:17amIf Idina is bored with the role, she sure ain't showing it in London. Saw her this past sat matinee, and she was amazing!!!

^ Ditto - if she's bored she's not showing it! Plus she came over here as a relative unknown, suppose that's kept her entertained - people not knowing really who she is.
Still really looking forward to Kerry Ellis coming in though, how long has it been since we had a new person in lead as Elphaba? Feels like forever.

You've asked her?

actor- Um, excuse me, but how do you "KNOW" Idina is bored with Elphaba and WICKED? Do you "know" her personally, did she say this to you? I think not. I think you are a bit out of line there. She is very proud of her Tony Award for the role and is performing it better than ever in London at this very minute.
Eden is as well. She is great in the role and would not have chosen to go to the cast in LA if she were bored or did not enjoy it. She is still very much involved with WICKED.

Posted: 10/17/06 at 3:40amThis upcoming opening in LA is getting ALL the publicity - their advertising has been all over the place! The budget must be substantial. I'm sure it will take off like a rocket - I'm just curious how long it will last. PHANTOM had an over four year run here - I wonder if it will rival that?

If you want to do TV and film, there are few better intros to Hollywood than doing the Tony-winning role in the hugely anticipated (and advertised) L.A. production of a show that's sold out forever.
The industry will see it. Either they will want to or, more likely, their kids will. The "hottest ticket in town" thing also plays reaaaaaally well in L.A.
It's a very smart career move and I'll bet there are several actresses who, given the choice between Broadway and L.A., would choose L.A. even if they didn't live here.
