Wicked loosing to Avenue Q!? — Page 3

This is pathetic. Sure, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but this thread is, as I said before, pathetic. Wicked is not the greatest musical on earth right now. The greatest musicals closed years ago. Avenue Q is great, Wicked's fine. Like someone said: It's an opinion!! Why are you getting so worked up about it?

You know, it's possible to like both. It's also possible to like neither. And it's just as possible to start losing interest in one because certain people unjustly feel they have to express their bitter hate against the other simply because it has a title that only a select few were able to give it in the first place. AND it's entirely probable that there's nothing anyone can do about that.

There is more to the Tony's than who is "best".

The Producers of WICKED should realize that their show will be fine in NY and on the road no matter what, whereas Avenue Q needs a little help to survive. Ave Q would have a few issues playing tour towns like Salt Lake City. NOTICE THAT THEY CANCELLED THE TOUR. Hmmm.

The Wicked folks have a right to be pissed.

It's great for young writers. And blows for those writers who are far overdue for the award. (Though he has 3 Oscars, he'll get over it)

This is rediculous. I'm not gonna lie, I'm a HUGE fan of Wicked...I've seen it plenty and I've had some decent conversations with some cast members. Here's my 2 cents...

Let's drop it. So what, they lost the freggin Tony. Not SUCH a big deal, it's not like they're closing the show...they just didn't get the statue. Was I a little upset at first? Yeah, sure I was, I thought that Wicked had a lock on best musical.

To the people who are STILL bitching: Have you seen Avenue Q? Have you even heard the music or did you just look at a picture and tell yourself you wouldn't like it?

I bought the recordings on the same day...yes, I took a stronger liking to Wicked but I still LOVE avenue Q. I wake up to it every morning...the first song just sets a good mood for the day.

Then I saw both of them...they're VERY different. I don't even see a way to compare them well. Avenue Q. is much more modern, it's young, it's fun, and it's freaking helarious.

I know this probably won't talk any sense into anyone and the bitterness and hostility will continue. I'll probably also get myself ripped a new one but I don't care. I've been lurking on this board for 2 years now...I never posted because the arguing, and sarcasm (not all sarcasm is bad but when it's rude...) drives me crazy.

Everyone is going to have different opinions, respect theirs as you want them to respect yours...I'm not saying you have to like it or agree...not at all- just show some respect.

Same thing with the TONY voters. The 735 of them collectively had an opinion different than some of ours. Just try to respect their reasoning...there are PLENTY of reasons Av. Q is deserving of that award.

You don't see the fans of BOY FROM OZ or CAROLINE OR CHANGE on here bitching about the Tony's a week later...even as a huge fan of Wicked coming on here and seeing SOOO many wicked posts clogging this Broadway board is EXTREMELY annoying, so, imagine someone that HATES the show coming on here and seeing 5 wicked threads and then a relevant thread buried in the middle of them. Again, back to repect.
