should i even dignify this with a response?
*Sigh* This is getting REALLY old.
First, have you even SEEN AVENUE Q?
Second, the show is about much more than "freaking puppets". Should it be disqualified for the Tony because it uses puppets?
Third, "lose" and "losing" each have only one "O" in them. I don't usually point out spelling errors, but this case warranted an exception.
looks down at this bloody pulp called a dead horse
I suggest you go to the newbie thread. Get some advice from there. You clearly need it. And Avenue Q is not just puppets.
OMGZZZZZ I KNO!!!1111
Seriously, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. It has puppets, so what? Wicked has frickin flying monkeys. And Avenue Q has a plot that actually makes quite a bit of sense.
Isn't it great that the TONYs were a week ago?
aaaand you just posted this now? kill yourself before you post next time...
I AM SO KIDDING...sorry. that was mean.

actually, wicked does NOT have flying monkeys... it has bouncing-around monkeys...
ok u guys need to loosen up...im sorry i spelt lose wrong...sue me! and yes i have seen ave q, its nothing special and they ARE STILL FREAKING PUPPETS! so calm down and go see wicked b/c it will prove to u that it IS the best musical of 2004!!!!
how? that title has already been given, and not to wicked.
OK FYI AVE Q BRIBED PEOPLE TO VOTE FOR THEM...READ FRIDAYS POST ARTICLE CALLED 'PUPPETGATE'...ITS INTERESTING AND WRONG...I WAS AT THE AWARDS AND WEN THEY ANNOUNCED AVENUE Q WON, THE WORD 'WICKED' CAME UP ON THE SCREEN INSTEAD OF 'AVENUE Q'...SO BOO YA! AND THE TONYS ARE AN OPINION...IF SOMETHING DOESNT WIN THE AWARD FOR BEST MUSICAL AT THE TONYS, THAT DOES NOT MEAN ITS NOT THE BEST MUSICAL OF THE YEAR...ITS AN OPINION, AND PEOPLE LOVE IT AND IM SURE IT'LL RUN LONGER THAN AVE Q...U PEOPLE NEED TO CALM DOWN!
who is the one typing in caps?

Exactly... its an opinion... so, why are you going nuts that "Wicked" did not win? In my opinion, they are both great shows that bring something different to the table. Just be glad that you are able to see such great talent. Many people are not able to, either because of where they live, financial reasons, etc.. be happy that you can.
Wickedfan-stop acting like a toddler. You're going to get a spank. ANyway, it's your OPINION that Avenue Q's nothing special. I think Wicked is a horrible musical personally, but that doesn't determine whether it won or didn't.
Here's a list of musicals:
GREASE
MISS SAIGON
MAMMA MIA
AIDA
DREAMGIRLS
GRAND HOTEL
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE
Know what these shows have in common? Two things: They all ran over 1,000 performances, and NONE of them won the Tony Award for Best Musical! Heck AIDA wasn't even nominated! I'm sure WICKED will soon be added to the list. Don't worry, losing the Tony for BEST MUSICAL is NOT the death knell for a show!
BTW, if WE need to calm down, why are you SHOUTING AT US IN ALL CAPS?!
I feel your pain. I shakalakalostit when BOMBAY DREAMS didn't get nominated. Haven't not worn my black armband since. *sniff!* The humanity...o, the humanity...

calm down people i didnt even no i was typing in caps...lets move on from this topic...w/e wicked still rox!
yes, that was quite a tantrum... i can almost see you falling to the floor banging your fists and kicking your feet... and the puppetgat article had nothing to do with the tony voting... in fact, a summary of the article is thus...
"The producers of "Avenue Q" - who, as part of their Tony campaign, gave the impression to road producers that their naughty little puppet show would tour the country - struck a secret deal with casino magnet Steve Wynn for an exclusive, open-ended Las Vegas production."
well, i did get that directly from the post archives... Updated On: 6/13/04 at 05:02 PM

the article suggests that they told road voters that the show would tour in a lunch they threw to woo the voters, misleading them and influencing their vote while they struck a deal for the vegas stint. and many quoted voters said they might have voted differently if they knew avenue q wasnt going to tour.
Thank you, Mistress... i just read the full archived story and you're correct... i have to agree with a post on another board that it then appears that if this is how the voters felt, they are more concerned with tour potential than with theater excellence...
and i would think that Wicked would have much MORE touring potential than Q, so why then did the voters vote for Q if it were based on touring potential?
