Here is a link to Wicked's link on Playbill.com that gives all the info on the show. Has Idina been in anything else since Rent other than Aida?

Is the Wild Party a good soundtrack?
Well, it's a pretty good CAST ALBUM :) I prefer the Broadway version, though...
Lipa's Wild Party is a WONDERFUL cd! I highly recommend getting it.

I loved the Wild Party soundtrack. The music is so driving...Very sensual in some parts. It's one of my favourites and Idina has two great numbers so if you're a fan of hers, I highly recommend.
Let’s all say this together:
“A SOUNDTRACK is the recording of a FILM,
An ORIGINAL CAST ALBUM (or OCA) is the recording of a MUSICAL.”
Yes, there is a difference. Sorry if I seem picky, it is just a big pet peeve of mine.

The Wild Party Lippa Recording is phenomenal!!
Idina Menzel, Taye Diggs, Brian D'Arcy James, Felicia Finley, and Julia Murney! What more can you ask for!
Jazzy belt dream come true. Every song is alive and energentic, and if you are a fan of insane belting, THIS IS THE CD. It's up there with the belting in Dreamgirls and Side Show!
I've heard that she is amazing on recordings, but really bad live. I can't comment because I haven't seen her live yet. What do you all think?
she is AMAZING live but VERY jewishy hehe (coming from one jewish girl to the next) she has a long island nasal sound.

"I've heard that she is amazing on recordings, but really bad live"
I've seen her in RENT, Wild Party, Aida, and one of her solo gigs at Joe's Pub. She's never been a disappointment live -- in fact I think her energy and power translates better live. She sounds unbelievable in WICKED - excellent control and tone. I don't think you'll find her disappointing at all.
I've heard some demos of her in Wicked and she is amazing in "Defying Gravity".
I was never really a fan of Idina on recordings, but I didn't dislike her, either -- I was AMAZED at her onstage in Wicked. I dind't see Wicked for her or for Kristin. I just wanted to see the show. With the exception of Robert Morse, the entire cast was incredible.

two reliable sources have told me that a cast member or two has been let go and that possibly, one of the pricipals. All I know is that it isn't Idina or Kristin.

It seems like a good show, but isn't the format a little like "Into the Woods?" I mean, you take some fairy tale characters and reinvent them to make a musical? Stephen Schwartz is starting to smell like another Stephen I know...
Kristin and Idina MUST stay! They are terrific and have great chemistry together on stage. I enjoyed the show tremendously, so I wasn't thinking about any weak link who might be replaced. The only one who seemed a bit awkward was Robert Morse, but I imagine he'd stay. His part is rather small and he's so beloved on Broadway.
They would have to be nuts to let Idina go! She is one of the best assets to the show, in my opinion.
I was at a lecture the other day given by Stephen Schwartz and he talked about changes he's making to the show before it comes to Broadway. A couple of them that I can remeber off the top of my head were, that they were getting rid of Robert Morse. He said he originally envisioned Robert's part as a song and dance character, so that is why he hired Morse, but the creative team has decided he should now be more of a low key actor. why? I don't know, but that is what he said. he also mentioned he was writing some new underscore music because he didn't like how it turned out. He also mentioned that their might be a new number in the show, he's not sure yet. So, from what he was saying the other night, the show that will reach broadway will be a bit different from what Out of town saw.
If it turns out to be true that Robert Morse won't play The Wizard in Wicked on Broadway, it won't come as a shock to me as a felt the character of The Wizard was the weakest in the entire production when I saw Wicked in S.F. As to whether this is caused by Robert's take on The Wizard or perhaps the role is written that way and needs to be changed, I can't tell which it is. But The Wizard came across as to much of a wimpy stumble-bum and this gets rather old in the latter part of the show. In my mind The Wizard needs to show a more calculating side to be able to control the agenda in The Land of Oz.
Exactly Alvin/Rex. My thoughts, too, as I watched the show. I wouldn't be surprised if they cast someone new as the Wizard.
Yes, the Wizard was the weakest part in the show... Perhaps it was the actor or perhaps it was just the part, but it definitly needs work either way! I'm glad to hear it's him though... For a sec I had a heart attack for fear it was Norbert getting the boot! He is just so wonderful in this show (as he is in everything!)
No, Norbert can't get the boot either. I liked him, too. How about the actor who played Boq?
