Posted: 4/24/04 at 11:25pmDoes seeing Kristin or Idina really lean you toward wicked? If so see that, if not see bare because wicked will be around for a while....maybe not with kristin and idina...they will leave and there will be a tour, but the show will be around, bare on the other hand is only scheduled to run until the end of May, who knows what will happen after that.

Posted: 4/25/04 at 1:22amThere's probably a pretty good chance that Bare will be picked up by a broadway producer. It really depends on how badly you want to see the original cast of Wicked.

gator, for future reference: do not ever ask for general opinion on wicked. you will see this type of mixed review, people get very obnoxious, and it gets ectremely irritating. its not your fault, just wanted to let you know.
if you havnt read the book, you'll probably enjoy wicked, it is very entertaining, and it may be your last chance to see it with the entire orininal cast if you dont get to the city too often. i havnt seen bare, but it looks very intriging- like broadway724 said; if depends on what is important to you.

Posted: 4/25/04 at 3:24amI'd say if you are looking for a safe evening go to Wicked. If you are looking for more of a thought provoking show that might make you a little uncomfortable and will really make you think. See bare. Not that Wicked isn't thought provoking, but Wicked will be around awhile, and it all depends on whther you can get tickets to see bare or not, same goes with Wicked.

Posted: 4/25/04 at 3:25amThis is a toughie. It deals with all the bigies: love, hate, betrayal, friendship and loyalty. Not to mention pure and utter crap. Dump both of them and go see ASSASSINS. Unless you want DAME to call you a hussy! But, that'll probably happen anyway ... enjoy!

Posted: 4/25/04 at 12:18pmAmen, pick two shows that are better than Wicked and Bare. Assassins and Avenue Q. If you can't afford to see both of them, work harder!

They are completely different type of shows with two VERY different ticket prices.
I would see Wicked and spend the extra $60.
There is no comparison.

If you like the WB and California Dreams, go see BARE.
If you like big, cutesy, diva, safe Broadway musicals, see WICKED.
Both have their ups and downs, and about four great songs a piece.
Which isn't saying much about the rest of their scores.
Bare is RENT with more cliches and younger dumber characters. Less of a soul than RENT, and less of a universal message.
Wicked has some great performances, and the music is VERY Schwartz, which is good or bad depending on taste.
Bare will close before Wicked though, so hit it first if you'll be back soon.
