"Exactly one year after "Wicked' left Chicago after an unprecedented, game-changing run of three-and-a-half years, 2.9 million audience members and over $200 million in Chicago ticket sales, the massively successful musical announced that it is coming back to what its producer calls "the show's favorite city."
According to producer David Stone, "Wicked" will return to Chicago for an eight-week run over the next holiday season at the Cadillac Palace Theatre, 151 W. Randolph St. The dates are Dec. 1 to Jan. 23. Tickets are not yet on sale. "

Posted: 1/25/10 at 6:49pmHaha. It'll be really strange to be sitting in the Palace and seeing Wicked. The whole time I'll be thinking to myself: "Shouldn't we be at the Oriental?"

Posted: 1/25/10 at 7:02pmI was really hoping they would put the show in the Bank Of America. It's such a vastly different space than the Palace and the Oriental.

I like the way they quote Platt saying "Oh the Cadillac is OK- it's a little bit bigger!"
Yeah I am sure that breaks his heart!

Both the Cadillac & Oriental had the same architects (Rapp & Rapp) but totally different styles. The Oriental is by far the more ornate of the two.
The Chicago was also done by Rapp & Rapp. This team also did the NY & Brooklyn Paramount theaters.

What does he mean by 'bigger'? I'm pretty sure the Oriental has more seating...

Very childish for a school teacher.
Where did you hear that Dee was going to be on the tour since that's what is coming to Chicago?

Or maybe, he has the heart of a child, like a good schoolteacher should.
I hope Ms Ravioli has other commitments. Worst Elphaha ever. Well, her and Maria Eberline.

I thought Orfeh was playing the Dragon Clock since she is as old as time itself, but I guess not!
Good to know!

Posted: 1/26/10 at 9:02amWell, I hope we get something new in the Schubert. Billy Elliot will probably be settled into the Oriental for a lengthy run and with Wicked in the Palace, they need to bring something new into the Schubert for the holidays for all those who enjoy Broadway shows and have already seen both Wicked and Billy Elliot. We love seeing something new for Christmas each year.

I was hoping it would be a little bit longer of a run. Oh well. However, Broadway in Chicago does have a pretty busy Season.
Billy Elliot, Wicked, HAIR, West Side Story, 9 to 5, Rock of Ages, Next to Normal.
I guess we'll get confirmation next month.

When logic does not prevail, snark does.

No, some people didn't get the joke about Dee Ravioli playing this role forever.

Posted: 1/26/10 at 11:09amIs it possible the San Francisco company will go there after it closes? There have been rumens about Wicked making extended stops in Toronto and New Orleans. Maybe SF would turn into the 3rd National Tour and serve that purpose.
