Wow. This has got to be one of the worst comparisons I've ever seen.
It boggles me that these people actually believe Wicked
can be compared to Les Mis--and exceed its greatness, at that! Completely appalling.
Les Mis is the better show (and the better novel), hands down.
And back on the revolution topic, the "uprising" that takes place in Les Mis is based on the July Revolution of 1832. It was
very small. Basically, the whole premise of the "revolution" was that a bunch of college students were way too bored. I'm not even sure if they had a real point to building a barricade; they had no idea what the hell they were doing. Hugo glorified it for the sake of his political/social commentary.
The point is, these students were smacked down hard by my man, Eugene Francois Vidocq of the French secret police. It's a shame his name isn't well-known--he's the real-life master of disguise Sherlock Holmes was based off.
