I'm new to this message board, so I appologize if this topic has already been discussed.
What are your thoughts/opinions/ideas on potential replacements for Elphaba and Fiyero? I know Stephanie Block is a strong rumor but is this really going to happen?

The topic has been discussed and discussed and discussed and discussed and...
You will be forgiven for a Sondheimian title and a very cool icon.

Posted: 11/23/04 at 11:59amNo, she turned the show down. It's now going to go to an unknown actress. They're holding auditions in High School drama classes in the tri-state area over the next 2 weeks so the lucky girl can start rehearsals right away.

Posted: 11/23/04 at 12:28pmre: Adam as Fiyero: Someone reviewed the Kean concert he and Daphne did in October, and there was something like one sentence saying that he was "mulling" over an offer to play Fiyero in January. I'm not sure that's valid anymore, because this was all before he was set for the Rent movie, which would cause major scheduling interference, especially since that's taking place on the other side of the continent, for the most part. So, as far as we know, nothing more than considering an offer, but it's probably not happening.... right now, at least.

Could all just be rumor, but I'd heard from people who heard from the horse's mouth that the other 2 besides Stephanie that were up to take over Elphaba did NOT get it, so that kinda only leaves Stephanie. Someone told me it was her and they haven't announced it yet, but I'm not sure where that info came from.
Adam Pascal would kick some serious Fiyero ass. That'd be sweet.

Posted: 11/23/04 at 1:17pmIf you can't beat em BG2... I have no speculation about the green girl but I have now heard the rumour that Orfeh will be a future Galinda more than once. I personally, would love to hear Orfeh's big rich voice, singing the Elphaba tunes.

This must be the 200 Millionth post on this subject, LOL....Oh well It's okay with me! Honestly, I would still love to see Mandy Gonzalez replace Idina Menzel. She has an absolutely breath-taking voice, and is such a wonderful actress. The thing that I love about her vocal abilities is how she has this incredible belt voice, while at the same time housing an amazing and flawless Soprano One range. Her range is absolutely incredible and I just think she needs a role like this that will show off her amazig abilities!
Later!

I think Mandy Gonzalez could do the role with a decent amount of direction -- Saw her in Aida, and while her singing BLEW MY AWAY, her acting kind of left something to be desired.
Personally, I think Julia Murney would make a great Elphaba...Recently learned she's quite an actress (From seeing "Ragtime" in North Carolina starring her as Mother) and I don't think there was every any question about her singing ability.

I want Julia Murney to take over Elphaba so bad it's not even funny.

I agree with you Razz, Mandy's Amneris left everyone a little dry in terms of her acting, but vocally she was AMAZING. However, that was one of my problems with Aida, I didn't think that there was a large amount of character development between the three leads, Amneris in particular. I still think it would be quite interesting, and for some suprising to see Mandy take over for Idina, I personally think she'd be great....She needs this opportunity!
