I've done many things straight from shows in public. I've also done stupid stuff because it reminded me of something in a show. Here are a few:
1) My drama class had a set of handcuffs for an improv game. I insisted upon wearing them for the rest of the period because of Mimi's lawnchair handcuff dance. Also for "I didn't recognize you without the handcuffs."
2) My math teahcer had a watch with an alarm that went off everyday and she didn't know how to turn it off. It was the same standard dootdootdootdoot that is used in RENT at the end of La Vie Boheme. I called out AZT break every single time it went off.
3) I defied gravity on swings or in my schools prop room with a broom.
4) There is a really big plant in my backyard and it's so large that it's now looking like a mutant lant. I sing various Little Shop songs to it.
5) My friend had a nightmare while at a sleepover. I sat u next to him and sang out "It's all over I'm here, there is nothing to fear! Chris what's haunting you? Won't you let me inside what yu so want to hide? I need you too!" I think he thought he was in an even worse nightmare. He also thought I thougtht his name was Chris...

So guys, what have you done?

I tend to perform the entire score of Evita whenever I'm near a balcony or a Che Guevara t-shirt.

God, bless you. You're a natural born Broadway "geek."

Yes, me too. It takes one to know one.

I used to walk down the street with friends (at night) and do the choreography from West Side Story, spontaneously. This was a LONG time ago, and after a few beers. It was pretty funny at the time. Now I just wince when I think about it. re: Wierdest thing you've ever done in public from a Broadway show

Some of my friends and I performed the choreography to All Shook Up outside the Palace...for the cast members. Hahaha. Incredibly amusing. I think that's the only thing I've really done though, although I do try to add random Broadway quotes into day-to-day conversations.

Lately I've had a tendency to flip out in elevators. Except people only stare at me, so I have start singing 'I'm the Bravest Individual' to myself.

And the next time I'm stuck on a ferris wheel...

Don't Cry For Me Argentina is a bad one for me. And a coworker and I use EVERY opportunity we can for Rent references. Someone came in the other day and everyone was super quiet. He said, "Who died?" In unison Casey and I said, "Our Akita! Evita!" I need help.

I was at a party for my grandparents and I had been sneaking champagne all night, so I was slightly buzzed. So when a friend of theirs asked me how old I was, I answered "I'm 19" then continued: "But I'm old for my age, I'm just born to be bad", complete with the "born to be bad" dance.

All these elderly people stared at me like I was on crack and my younger sister just rolled her eyes and asked "Is that from Rent?"

Whenever the subway/bus is empty-ish...we're bound to do something. A bad rendition of Light My Candle or Take Me Or Leave Me is always called for. La Vie Boheme at the top of my lungs, I've done it so many times on Madison and 51st in the middle of the night with a friend. This is what happens when you lock high school kids in a law office have they memorize case law, give them lots of sugar via totally great chocolate chip cookies, and then give them vouchers for cars that are never there when they are supposed to be. (Though when we did find our driver, he told us if we didn't shut up he wouldn't drive us home, and continually shouted out to Jesus for the duration of the entire trip) The soccer field is the haven of What Is This Feeling, and fake 42nd Street dance numbers. (Sorry to my coach who tries to turn girls soccer into football with play-by-play strategies.)

During my first mock trial competition I was a little lost for words for some dumb question about the love of the parents in the legal situation and I ended up saying... "There's a fine, fine line between LOVE and a waste of time!" but I got back on track. (Yes, the lyrics was actually relevant...)

Then there was this one time my friend brought a cow bell for me. (A non renthead) Um...we raided the freshman floor and did over the moon after school but got kicked out by the security guards.

I'm constantly breaking out in song, using quotes, or making references to Broadway shows (and nearly everyone in my life has excepted this need to break out into song constanly, as normal for me). However, the first one that pops into my mind at the moment as weirdest (and probably most violent and embarrising) thing is whenever I find a penny on the street, I always check to see if it's from the year I was born (so I can break out into "Purpose" from Avenue Q), but one day I picked up a penny and it wasn't my year, so I (having a bad day already) threw it as hard as I could, and it ended up hitting this random person in front of me really hard in the back of the head, and he turned around and started screaming at me (at least I wasn't on the top of the Empire State building like Kate Monster, right?); and after that I was so mortified, that I really don't remember what I did exactly, but my friend who was with me insists (and I do remember some of this) that I said "sorry, I do that a lot" and then tried to break into "Here I Am" from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, but I guess the guy just got done screeching at me, and walked away.

I bust into the second verse of "Great Big Stuff" complete coreography whenever I feel like it.

The weirdest thing I've ever done was dance ontop of a car in a public parking lot with 5 of my closest friends while blasting "La Vie Boheme B" through the car's speakers
If you ever get the chance, I'd highly recommend it

This summer, we were at a dance convention, and my best friend told me to let her borrow my rent cd, and so she turned it to Take Me or Leave me, then we got out of the car, and started singing it, very loud. Then alot of the dancers came out and started singing,a nd dancing along with us, it was really fun!

At dinner one night, the waitress asked if we needed anything else, so naturally my sister and I did the whole "Wine and beer" part from Rent.

I've definatley sung "Easy Street" from Annie while walking down Broadway.

And my first visit to NYC (my senior year of highschool) my friend and I skipped down broadway singing "summer stinks and winter's freezing, welcome to New York" from Newsies. God, I will never forget that trip...

While waiting for the bus, as CMU won't let you have cars freshmen year, it's a given that I will break into:

I hate the bus.
I won't my own car.
A car with a heater,
Wanna TV set and more.

A big ol' house,
Like this one but
EVERYTHING new..

At this point, I am usually attacked by my friends with duck tape.

Personally, I think I have too much bloom.

My latest weird moment was today... I forget what i did but my bf asked me "Are you ok?" and I replied - "Me? Give me a bottle of bourbon and half a chicken and I'll conquer the world!!!!" (from Wild Party)

He's not into theatre at all... so he's always baffled by my bway spasms.

Well being 19, I have been doing the "I'm 19, but I'm older for my age." thing. And i just stop there, I don't even realize I have just done it. So those questioning my age get a little song that they weren't expecting.

I tend to sing about a place I am in.

Once I was in SoHo with the guy that I am in love with and he sang-VERY LOUDLY while dancing down the sidewalk"[My name] and I, live on the west side of Soho and Y"
from Tick...Tick...Boom!

What more could a girl want, than a guy who sings songs to her from Broadway shows?

There's a river near campus, so if I'm walking somewhere at night and the moon is out I'll break into "Nothing Is Too Wonderful To Be True" ('Look at the way the moon behaves, look at the way she paints a silver ribbon on the waves' teehee)

Was at a cast party at a mexican restaurant and we were on the 2nd floor balcony, so I climbed on the railing and started singing "La Vie Boheme". Dangerous and fun. W00t.

Eh I'm sure there's more, but I can't remember.

Met someone named Maria at a friends house. Ran to the piano and burst into self-accompanied West Side Story. I think i got most of the way through the song before I stopped. I definately did the really long high note. Needless to say, she was freaked out.

I, too, always check the date on pennies for the sake for of going "Oh look, a penny. It's from the year I was born. IT'S A SI-III-II-IIII-III-IGNNN. HA!" I've also been known to shut elevator doors quickly before the passenger in question can make it in, prompting a rendition of "Schadenfreude."

And being near any kind of mexican food gets me going with "To yoga, to yogurt, to rice and beans and cheese." (I'm also prone to making other RENT references in everyday life... but then again... who isn't?)
