Did anybody see the production in Minnesota?! I don't know much about it, but my friend went up there to see it.

Before you get too excited about Glendale, here is what the link says...

Based on a poem by Joseph Moncure March

Not to be confused with the Broadway show of the same name

the LaChiusa version was on broadway, the Lippa version was off-broadway, so this would be the off-broadway Lippa show; i will be looking into tickets right about now...

OK cool! I don't know much about either version but I didn't want anyone to miss that disclaimer. What is it about? Maybe I should see it too.

LaChiusa's Wild Party in Los Angeles in August: See postings below.
As to Lippa's Wild Party, a star-studded professional staged reading will take place at the Alex Theater in Glendale on June 6. It's been on my calendar for a long time! MTG does excellent "staged readings" with mostly Equity casts (including Broadway leads) and orchestra on stage. Even choreography! They are required to hold scripts except when dancing, and there are no sets, but very nice costumes. I love their shows!

The LaChiusa one will be done in August 2005 in LA starring Valarie Pettiford, a wonderful triple threat (and now TV sitcom star). She was one of the leads in Fosse on Broadway and the original Sweet Charity.
"It does what a musical is supposed to do; it takes you to another world. And it gives you a little tune to carry in your head. Something to take you away from the dreary horrors of the real world. A little something for when you're feeling blue. You know?"

BroadwayBaby, thanks for the exciting news! I thought I was in the know as to upcoming events in L.A., but you found one I hadn't heard about!!! I know the theater, on Santa Monica Blvd, in Theater Row, though I haven't seen a show there. Here's a link for all who want to know more about seeing LaChiusa's Wild Party in August!!!

re: Wild Party in Cali?

eslgr8 - I'd always wondered how the MTG shows were. I knew they were labeled as staged readings, but the publicity photos I'd seen of past shows (like "Parade") had the principals in full costumes and I'd always wondered about choreography. Thanks for the informative post above, I can't wait to see "Sail Away!" re: Wild Party in Cali?
