Posted: 6/27/06 at 1:58pmI doubt Ashley Brown will win for Poppins. It's not as dramatic of a role as Ebersole / Clarke and it's not really a powerhouse role like LaChanze / Menzel. Though, I think she'll be nominated.

I don't think Ebersole is as big a slam dunk to win as everyone seems to think. Yes, judging by all her reviews and accolades Off-Broadway she is most certainly the favorite, but there are alot of factors that could not make her victory such a guarantee.
There are bound to be creative and cast changes to the show that could affect her performance (although not likely, it's a possibility.) And as others have hinted at.. I think GG will close before the Tony's, and like Maria Friedman, alot of critics may not get to see Christine. Plus... the almighty Audra is in contention.. and you can never count her out.

Well, I for one can't wait to see this. It does sound a little to obscure to sustain a long run, but who knows? Stranger things have happened.
Is the marquee up outside the theater yet? If it is, I'm going to need pictures.

Everyone said she had the Tony in the bag, but then the upset came. So we'll see.
Speaking of Tony upsets and Ms. Ebersole... does anyone remember the 2001 Tony Awards? Yike!

Get it? Because she robbed Marla Schaffel and won for reasons I will never understand.
Wouldn't that be the sweetest just desserts if she didn't win for Grey Gardens, being overlooked because she already had a Tony?

Oh, you know what I mean. No need to be an ass. I was just saying that the part isn't as meaty as Mary Poppins. But maybe the show will suprise me.
